All you drummers will not believe the deal I found on a set of GREAT drums!!! My mom has a friend who has a set of Gretsch drums, six piece rim-mounted, that he is selling for $2,500. (As most of you drummers know, they quit making Gretsches a long time ago and they are rare drums that are worth well over $2,500.) He is selling his cymbals and everything, including the cases  for the drums, and his cymbals are all Paistes by the way. So, I'm going to sell my drums and keep my cymbals anyway just because I like the way they sound. I have played these Gretsches before and they sound great. In fact the current owner let me borrow them and play them for about a month and that was the last time they had been played, about two years ago. They have been sitting in cases all this time! So, I'm going to sell the Pearls I have now, including my hi-hat for $600, and put that money towards these Gretsches. That price I gave includes mounting hardware, a bass pedal (single), and a throne. They are five piece, rim mounted (just put those on about a month ago), only five years old this Christmas. They have only had one owner (that's me) and they are in good shape. If it makes any difference, they are forest green. I've already got a guy from school that is coming to look at them soon, but if anyone on here would like to make me an offer, feel free (E-mail address below). By the way, mods, I wasn't intending for this to be a "for sale" post, but just to tell about my good fortune. Grin If need be, move this to the "for sale" section.

Here's my E-mail: tumbug4@aol.com

Ronnie. I'm delighted for you. Gretsch always had a good reputation & I wasn't aware they are no longer in business. It's a long time since I had anything to do with it & I have no idea how much a good quality drum kit would cost these days. The point is, if you're happy with the deal that's fine. More important is that they have the sound you want.

I once spent a lot of money I could ill afford on a sparkly kit that looked better & was supposedly better quality than my old white Olympic set. I always regretted it as it never sounded as good & kept falling to pieces. The name is not everything.

I don't have a utility to resize the pics, but if you give me your e-mail I can send them to you. The pictures I have are of the Pearls that I have now.

Here is a picture of the whole set. You can't see the floor tom well, but it's there.

...
All of my toms, including the floor tom are equipped  with the Pearl Integrated Suspension System, just added about a month ago.

$600 for the drums, throne, mounting hardware, the hi-hat, the sixteen inch crash that is in between the two toms, and the bass pedal that came with the set. I have a Gibraltar Intruder II double bass pedal, I might sell that as an extra. The new set has a DW single and that is as good if not better than my double.

EDIT: This is a pretty good deal, by the way.

In case you were wanting to see, here is a photo I found on Ebay of a similar set of Gretsches The color is the same; the only difference is that mine--that's right, I bought the drums--are six piece instead  of five. I will be getting my set hopefully later today or tomorrow. I will post a pic as soon as I get them.

Here is the photo of the similar set: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2367450823&category=10175&ssp...

lol, Yeah, I saw that right after I posted this. All the drummers I know told me they had quit making Gretsches. So much for my excellent one-of-a-kind deal. But WAIT! THese drums are about twenty years old. . . I have a new excuse  for this being an excellent deal! They don't make 'em like they used to!

This is quite true. I didn't intend to put a damper on anything. Wink

are those Pearl forum series? I am not interested in buying I am just wondering.

And my drumset teacher just got some Gretsches a few weeks ago, he said he was probably going to sell them and get another Yamaha kit. The gretsches definently sound good, I also go to play on them quite a bit, but he said he just loves yamaha....

I love Pearl

All have different tastes, and most of them time... its not the drum, its the drum head  Roll Eyes

Still have a nice PC but I just switched to a hella nice mac

Swanny-
Yeah they are the Pearl Forum series. For such cheap drums they sound great, IMHO. Once again, if anyone wants them, they are for sale.

Ronnie- I'd LOVE to help you out with those Pearls. Unfortunetly, heh, I already have a nice Pearl 5-Piece with hardware, an 18" Sabian heavy ride, and a Sabian 14" fast crash all lined up for $900... Mahogony wood with faded red turning into black... Oh man... I WANT IT JUST DESCRIBING IT! Sad
