I never thought that IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgetton Battles has a nuclear bomb as a stock weapon. Shocked

I was playing online with my trusted P.11.

I was returning to base after after being chased by a couple of Yak's, La's, Bf-109's, P-51's, etc. I took a look at what was behind. The next thing I saw was a mushroom could covering the entire enemy base. Shocked

Take a look.

...

I found out that somebody had hitched a ride in a Pe-8 and loaded it up with a 5,000 lbs bomb.

I used to play in a room where there was a total nuclear war with these things.

However, the mushroom clouds took up a lot of frame-rates due to their detail.

REmember that a mushroom cloud is typical of a large explosion, such as an ammo dump....

it's associated with the nuclear detonations only because it is one HECK of a big explospion...

it doesn't look fake at all if you ask me. There is a lack of a fireball but the smoke is good.

i think the largest conventional explosion ever was conducted before the famous "trinity" test, when the USA blew up 100 tons of dynamite in nevada.
more information on this test and the following detonation of the first a-bomb in history:
http://www.nuclearweaponarchive.org/Usa/Tests/Trinity.html

p.s: also read this one about the biggest bomb ever:
http://www.nuclearweaponarchive.org/Russia/TsarBomba.html

Shocked Shocked Shocked Imagine what would it be like if the bomb would accidentally blow up !!!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

It would be the last day someone ever saw a daylight. Sad

That is the largest nuclea bomb I ever saw, not that I got nuclear-bomb spotting. Wink

BTW, nice screenshot and the puff of smoke was pretty neat

P.S. - - - Gotta love those ground textures, look much better than in FS  Smiley

I have a Popular Science magazine that shows how devistating the Tsar Bomb can be.

It's a diagram with all the famous nuclear bombs [exclude the experiments] in existance. They are in order from weakest to strongest [the Tsar Bomb being the strongest and the Hiroshima bomb as the weakest].

The two bombs that blew up in WW2 were shown like nothing more than specs on a page while the Tsar bomb is shown as baheamoth.

I do NOT wish to see the Tsar bomb blow up. That is the only thing I will never wish to see.
