VERY FRUSTRATED...PLEASE HELP SOMEBODY!
After signing in to the Zone and try to enter a room on FS 2002, or any of them for that matter, the next page will not open. I have: (1) uninstalled and reinstalled FS twice, (2) uninstalled and reinstalled MSN Gaming Zone files, (3) installed FS on a different computer, (4) read every FAQ and Support documents trying to find the solution, (5) disconnected from router, (6) deleted temp files, (7) confirmed no firewall and still cannot play a game.

Any other suggestions. MS does not have a number to call for help.

Thanks, Steve

Hi:

Thanks for your reply.

You mentioned that Zone has been shut down. If that is the case, why does the site come up and show people in various rooms playing games?

Shocked

Course it hasn't.

This is from the Zone info page

Open Ports in Proxy or Firewall

Some games will not load if your computer system connects to the Internet through a firewall or proxy server unless certain TCP Ports are opened in the firewall or proxy server.  Most work, school, and public computers are connected through a firewall or proxy server for security. If you have a broadband (cable) or DSL modem, you may also have a firewall installed. To open these ports, consult the help files for your firewall software or contact your network administrator or IT technician for assistance.  Ports that need to be opened to play on Zone.com:

 80
 443
 6667
 28000-29100

Note for Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional users:  In order to play on Zone.com, you will need to log on as an administrator.  If you are not logged on as an administrator, you may not be able to install components necessary to run some games or make changes to your computer system’s settings.  Please contact the computer’s owner or your network or IT administrator if you need assistance logging on as an administrator.

So you have to open thos ports in your router or firewall config

EXCEPT

I work with a Netgear router and even with thos ports set up I COULD NOT connect with FS2002.

The ONLY way I could was direct thru a DSL modem

BUT had no problem with 2004 with the router in place

QUESTION

What changes did M$ make between 2002 and 2004???
