Hoping I'm helping the moderators and posting in the proper place for once.
Are there any birds in FS9 or any downloads to add birds and other flying friends?
The reason i ask is because when I went real life flying yesterday I just about removed 100 birds from the earth during take-off, don't know where they came from but when they came they came!! Never seen so many flocking at one time.
But thought FS9 would be more realistic if there were some.

P.S. I think they were heading to the Waffle House for scraps. Grin

Cheesy For one minute there I thought you were looking for the lonely hearts section. Birds is what we called young ladies in my day. Dolly-birds & all that -  back in the not so politically correct 60s when men were men & women were glad of it. Oops, better watch out saying things like that. Roll Eyes
Happy days when the miniskirt first became fashionable. Shocked Grin

I have seen 3rd party scenery with a few birds of the feathered variety. These are static objects & more of a gimmick than anything else. I haven't spotted any in the default scenery yet.

yourew better off without static birds. They make a scenery look cheap because they dont fly.

You know, I've been thinking about this for awhile now, and I have recently been tinkering with the "Tick18" tag for Gmax, which enables an object to perform an animation in relation to time instead of a given command.

When I get home tonight (I'm at work at the moment), I'll see what I can dredge up on the birds and Gmax, and see if I can get some to fly around my airports.

And YEAH!  I know the animations get choppy after awhile, but that's okay, since I will only be giving them a few hundred frames and then send in another set of birds.

If it is birds you want Fret, then it is birds you will receive! Just don't let one of the feathered friends use your head for target practice!  Grin
This flock of seagulls comes with an add on. They are a pack of non moving object that look weird when approaching but fun to fly through them. Left a cloud of feathers in behind me!  Wink  Who's got the wing sauce!!!  Grin

I've done the same thing my old flight schools 172.  Took forever to wash the blood off the cowling.  Fortunately I was on my long solo x-country, and got it clean before I got back to PDX. Tongue Grin

Yea, though our country transits through the international airspace of death, we shall fear no evil, for You are with us, Your fighter and your bomber, they comfort us.

About two years ago now I wrote a gauge for FS2000 that overlaid the viewable area and added Birds. By making them part of the panel system instead of the scenery they could interact with the aircraft better. If enough of them hit one of the engines hard enough it would fail or if the airspeed was over a certain amount and you hit one sqaure on a crack would appear in the window. Although it was working I never quite finnished tweaking the images on it. I think  I'll dust the source code off finnish it off and upload it now that I know there's an interest in it.
