Do you have to be old and rich to be Knighted?

Not necessarily. A knighthood actually doesn't mean much nowadays, if it ever did. Maybe it does mean something to the recipient but that doesn't impress me. Cheesy

I have to agree I'm not impressed!
But that will be my next goal, as soon as I fly a real DC3 I'm going on to be Knighted.
AH! Sir Jeff, has a nice ring too it.

As an American you can receive an honorary knighthood. In the depths of my marble I seem to remember that Ronald Reagan received one. I'm not sure this entitles you to be addressed as Sir. Roll Eyes

Personally I'd love a knighthood, just to get up the collective nose of my family Grin Oh and so I could finally put up with students addressing me as "Sir" without feeling so old Grin Grin Grin

DARN
I get addressed as SIR all the time!!!!!

Do you think it could be my short round stature,  lack of hair on pointy head (of course GOD only made so many perfect heads...the rest he put hair on)LOL AND the way I converse...(by the time I say goodmorning...its good afternoon)?????

Cheers .....Doug

The female equivilant of a Knighthood is called a Damehood. You would address the lady as Dame....
A good example of this is Dame Judy Dench (she is most well known these days for playing 'M' in the Brosnan Bond movies) she is addressed as Dame Judy 8)

The whole thing has to be irrelevant in todays world .... like a silly & almost comical relic from the past  Roll Eyes

If I met one of these bozos - like a 'Lord' or 'sir' there is no way I would call the idiot by his silly assed title  Grin

Of course Pete if I was to gain a knighthood I wouldn't expect my friends to address me as sir Wink (as if any would ever show me that much respect Tongue Grin) Just certain members of my family, and a couple of twerps I know who I'd enjoy patronising even more than usual Grin

I very much doubt it. He might be a tad miffed that he didn't get one too. He doesn't seem the sort of chap to let that or anything else bother him much. Wink
