Sorry if this is a bit biased towards the RAF in WW2...

The first of the British 4-engined bombers was the Stirling.

Although in service with the VVS, I cannot confirm that the TB-3 was used by the Soviets during their invasion of Poland from the East in 1939.

I'm no good with squadron codes or airfields I could easily look all this up but in the spirit of this quiz these are from memory.

14. I was once told it was RNAS Ford - probably wrong
16. Gloster Meteor
17. Flt Lt Nicholson
18. Leonard Cheshire
19. Short Stirling
20. Leonard Cheshire

Sorry, this quiz wasn't actually written for Simv, its an actual quiz i'm doing next week for an aviation society. I considered changing the question, but didn't, as the alternative was a bit tricky...

The alternative 17)
