today it was the day for Italian car and aircraft freaks. Michael Schumacher raced against an Eurofighter Typhoon with his F1 Ferrari.  8)

i don't know who won the short drag race but i really like to know it. they drove different lengths (longest was 1500 meters i think)...therefore most people thought the Ferrari would win because of its fast acceleration...the longer races would be for the ET because after a distance, the ET has much more power than the F1 car has.

if anyone can tell more about this event, please tell me.

info can be found here: www.aeronautica.difesa.it ; Wink

just saw it on TV...pretty awesome! the car took the taxiway and the ET the main runway. during the 600 meter, it (ET) was already lifting of the ground before it reached the finish line.

the run -and taxiway were wet, so with dry weather, the car would accelerate even faster so... Roll Eyes

That Ef is a pretty amazing aircraft I don't give a flying **** about what people say it simply has fantastic potential and with the addition of TVC it would be an amazing aircraft. I remember they did it with an f-18 and the F-1 car won all the races. It just shows the power of those EJ200 engines 90kn's of thrust each compared to the Rafales 60kn engines.

all it prooves is both ferrari and which ever airforce leant them the plane had nothing more important to do.
They do the same thing in the US every year, between an F16 and a Dodge Viper. The Dodge Viper won last year by a very short margin, but i believe its always been the F16 coming out on top before hand.
Of course the Planes going to win 9 times out of 10 on the long course. and of course the cars going to beat the plane over a short distance, the planes thrust to weight ratio is alot less than the ferrari's at low speed. once they get moving though, afterburners kinda put a crapper on most cars:)

I assume the aircraft was one of the Italian Pre-production or development aircraft.

As for the idea, nothing new, still think RAF Jaguar v Jaguar (XJR 9LM) in the eighties was best...

I've no idea, i'm trying to find a picture. If you've ever seen a Jag GR1 accelerate and take off, you'll probably have your money on the XJR-9...
