Hey all! Here's a picture of MY favorite instrument! My Alvarez twelve string...only problem I have so far is it isn't elctrified so I can't use it to play too many places without having to set up a whole audio system/mic to go with it... Sad Maybe one of these days I will change that Smiley

and Maybe someday I will win the lottery and graduate and everything else that I want to do too!

Hi Jared...!
If it is fitted with all STEEL, (metal), strings you can fit a magnetic pick-up in the sound hole to plug into an amplifier.
(This senses the vibrations of the strings and produces electricity in the pick-up, to feed an amplifier)... 8)...!

(It doesn't work on a classical guitar fitted with NYLON strings)... Wink..!

I have both types... Grin...!

Cheers Mate...!

Paul.

P.S.  beware tho', a 12 string guitar is only suitable as a strumming, accompanying, guitar...not for solo playing, ala Hendrix... Wink...!
Each "pair" of strings is tuned an octave apart, making it difficult to pluck... Roll Eyes...!

I'd guess and say about twice as long as a 6-string.    Wink
