This thread seems to have strayed off-topic. LOL
Katahu. I would ask one question. Does Fly or any other similar sim cover the whole world?

The M$ Flight Simulator series might have its faults but it's posssible for anyone to improve their own area if they so wish. This is its main attraction over the competition & always will be so providing M$ keep the open architecture structure. It's also the reason sites like SimV exist. Check out RollerBall's Kai Tak some time.

Uhhhh....I think you got me wrong.

When I say Fly-Miami or Fly-Tampa, I am refering to the add-ons. Not the simulators that are competing.

These two addons are mainly payware [around $10 to $15 per addon]. The addon that I showed you was a demo version that is Freeware for FS2004.

I don't know if FLY! [a sim] covers the whole world because I never flew the simulator. I don't even own it.

You can find these addons at:

http://www.fsinflight.com/

Just click on where it says Reviews and look for something that says FLY-Miami.

It's an interesting review. The auther of the addon discusses how he made the airport for Miami International.

Right now, the owner of the website has temperarely closed the site for restructuring.

Ah OK sorry. I got the wrong idea. Thanks for the link but I don't bother with payware.

I have check the Kai Tak scenery addon.

My god, that scenery is a real FPS hog. My FPS dropped to a wimping 5 FPS when I added it.

After that, I took it out.

You noticed that too! Angry

But it is all good the topic isn't about Terrorists, the topic is about how realistic M$ keeps to its "As Real as it gets" logo.  Grin

I also noticed that M$ never finishes my favorite airport: Kendall Tamiami Executive [KTMB].

Ex:

[in real like]

There are many roads and small buildings that are in the middle area of the entire airport. There is even a small Miami Dade Community College building at the near the East side and a nice Fire Rescue Station [for helis] next to the North hangars.

The airport is so crowded with small GA airplanes that their wings almost touch each other when you park your plane. If that's not the case, then you can stand between two planes, hold out your arms and you almost touch two wingtips at the same time.

Real crowded. Their are even small vintage planes as well. There's also a retired Soviet vintage plane including a retired military jet. Both of these are owned by civilians. I also see the Cathey Pacific plane as well [vintage as well].

[in FS]

Instead of the many roads and small buildings, I only see nothing more than a patch of what looks like "forest". How dull. Angry

The place is not even crowded. In fact, it place looks dead even with the AI traffic set to high. And the way they are park is pathetic.

I thank god that AFCAD2 [newest version] is now available and so is TTools. From there, I can make KTMB look alive.

At least there's a DC-3 in the airport, but it's parked in the wrong place. Other than that, there are no more vontage planes to look at. I'll fix that with AFCAD.

I understand that those at M$ have to be busy making over 20,000 airport in the virtual world of FS, but that doesn't give them the d*mn excuse to rush the product and make a lot of mistakes without sufficient beta testing and debugging.

This is what Bill Gates thinks:

Bill Gates: "Hmm....what am I gonna do with all this hard-earn cash that I ripped off from those people. Oh, I know, I'll spend it all on that nice Hummer H2."

not at all, look at lock on. this game does not include some features which were promised to be included by the developers, such as the dynamic campaign. and it has a lot of bugs, too.

Yeah, but the graphics are unmatched, IMHO...

Ok, pardon me for being slightly off-topic for a while. Grin

Ok, finally, back on topic.

Just after 9-11-01, I read a news article from MSNBC.

In the article, a guy was discussing the many possibilities of how the terrorist found their way towards the twin towers.

[As Mav316 mentioned] The guy in the article said that the terrorists were using the simulators that we regularly use.

The guy then wanted to see how the simulators look like. At the time, FS2000 was new. He was then surprised to see how ACCURATE the sim really was. He could even pin-point the exact location of the White House using the sim.

In the article, Microsoft had mentioned that it will relocate the signifigant buildings from one location to another [as in the case of FS2002] in hopes of misleading future terrorists.

BUT!!!!

As time went by, WE [the average users of FS] then DEMANDED that M$ move these relocated objects back to where they were. Believe me, I have read every post made us complaining why M$ has moved certain things like the Millenium Dome, the White House, the missing Golden Gate bridge, etc. into places where they shouldn't be.
