The 3D glasses I set up are from E-dimensional.  I have an Nvidia FS5600 Graphics card and GForce seems to be the best card to have from what I can see on 3d - Guru forum.  ATI cards seem to be much more dificult to set up - Nvidia do a special driver for 3D and also have a nice set up tool.  BEWARE - you will not get 3D to work with antialiasing switched on either in the application or directly from the graphics driver.  You also need a monitor (not TFT / LCD but cathode ray tube type) with 100 hZ otherwise the flicker rate can be noticeable.  My monitor is top class but old (like me !) and cannot run above 75 hZ. There is quite a drop in luminence with the glasses running and if you try to have the RH LH separation too wide you will develop headaches !

The 3D effect is stunning as a piece of technology but I am not sure that it adds a lot to serious use of FS.  I will probably end up offering these up for sale on eBay.

With the Nvidia they are easily set up and they do work, be assured of that.

Regards to all

I've always thought about these E-dimentional things since the adverts and pete's review started appearing. I've just never been bothered to hand over my hard earned quids to get a pair... besides I've got so many tangled joystick/keyboard/mouse/network/power cables tangled about my desk, adding another would make things difficult. Is there any similarity in these things and the cheap 'blue/red' plastic things they used to have in the theatres?
They were a bit before my time but I got to try them at Warner Bros World in Queensland a few years ago. They were apparently only for use with movies that had been photographed in a specific format, so the images would appear to 'leave the screen' and come towards you.  Shocked

The reason I ask, is I am almost blind in one eye, but still got the effect of the '3D items' coming out from the screen. If they are based on the same principal, these new ones may still work for me, but I fear this mention of 'left and right' adjustment could kill the whole idea for me.  Grin Wink

The ones I remember were Red/Green and are called 'Anaglyphic' or something like that.

The latest glasses have two LCD lenses which can be darkened to obscure an eye and this signal is synched to two horizontal spatially separated images such that the correct eye sees the correct image whilst the other is darkened out.  This is carried out ideally at a frame rate of 100hZ and the brain reassembles these as a 'stereo' image.  It is not 'true' 3D since it only occurs in a horizontal plane.

Here endeth the lesson ......
