Hot from Avsim. This makes a huge difference to VFR flying in the UK... In that you can recognise where you actually are
2 examples... a shot of the Snowdonia National Park from RAF Valley (EGOV, rwy 14) before...
And after
(I've seen that mountian range from that angle a lot, and it look stunning now
heres the change at my local airfield RAF Shawbury (EGOS)
Go to avsim and search "UK Mesh 2004" in 2k4 scenery...
CAUTION!
the zip is nearly 50Mb
but worth it when you have it

Great maccers! Unfortunately my computer that can run FS is not working (at all) at the moment so I cant run it. Do you think you could post a shot of the mesh around Bristol Airport (EGGD)?, This would save me doing mesh if it sorts it out. Just the area around the airports flat bit would be nice to see. Does it do the whole of the england?
PS. Has holyhead mountain been rendered? Its on Holy Island, the tiny island next to RAF Valley.

The mesh is for England, Wales, Scotland and i believe N.Ireland, not too sure of the last one though. In the readme it says the mapping has a few holes but thats not really much.
I havent been to bristol so im not sure what the origional mapping is like, but as requested, EGGD... (Excuse the extreme bank angle
you know what im like with a 777)
...and hollyhead mountian

Well im afraid its not entirely accurate............. Looks like I will have to learn how to create mesh.
But at the moment I can't do anything! My computer has died on me and I don't have a clue what to do
When I start up it just leaves me with a blank blue screen and a mouse pointer. No programs running or anything
Does anybody think a hammer would fix it?

I took a flight skimming the 'many' cathedrals of bristol earlier... and the terrain of bristol town looks great... little depressions and rivers inside them, more deviation between the higher and lower points of the city
I didnt take any screenshots though, and im away from my FS machine, ask me again on monday.
As for your computer... try fiddling with the display drivers in safe mode, otherwise uninstall windows and reinstall it fresh 8)

Unfortunately starting in safe mode only has the same result, nothing comes up except a completely blank screen. There's also nothing I can do about windows as the shop didn't supply the disk.
I have a couple of choices:
A. Take it back to the shop and get them to repair it, costing £££'s.
B. Get a new computer (I was going to do that sometime soon anyway - from a different place) and use the Windows XP etc which comes with that to mend it.
C. Get a new PC
and
get them to mend it!!!
PS. Just come up on the computer which I have left running blank all day is a message "Live Update could not initialize all or some of the windows components it needs to run.....". Its not the program doing this as I have installed nothing recently but this must show that windows is Bu***r*d! Anyone got any thoughts?

Its easy to get past the windows problem, if you know anyone with the same version of windows just borrow their CD and use your key-code. (My code is stuck to the back of the case).
Its normal for computer suppliers to have a recovery CD bundled with it, but nothing at all?
Thats just dirty, and then you would have to give more money to them to fix it.
If you dont have a code you should talk to MS and say that your supplier is distributing illegal copies of their software... They'll like you for that

Im afraid I don't have a Key code, if they don't take it back and mend it for free then I think ill have to cut my losses and have no more to do with them. The system is extremely unstable anyway - keeps crashing and locking the whole time! The company doesn't look bad, they have a respectable website:
http://www.smart-computers.net/
Im not sure there quite as bad as Pirating M$ Software!!!
Anyways,

To be honest mate you should have a word with them about this... I think they are either trying to con you out of cash, or are illegally breaking copyright law. You have no proof that your copy of Windows is legit (hundreds of other users that have bought computers from them could be using the
same
CD key as you) and if MS pull a question on you about it, your going to be prosecuted for their error. Don't think 'they couldn't be doing it, they look too good', I've done work experience at college with guys that have acually done this and they got arrested for fraud and put out of business. Independant computer sales stores are quickly becoming the new dodgy car garage or plumber, and I know a few of the workings from behind the scenes.
If you want i could email them too and use a professionaly 'harsh' tone with them to get answers. 8)
