After contemplating that I am as far north as any man should ever be...I told myself it was time to HEAD SOUTH!!

After paying a local taxi (aka dog sled team) a rediculous ammount of money, I got back to my Baron and started my preflight prep. The temperature this morning is bomby -25 Celcius.  I need to calculate my fuel capacity very carefully because there is no fuel up here and I wanted to get as far south as I could!  8) I destination was to get to Resolute, Nunavut.

After I got the engines warmed up, my coffee thermos securely fastened, I was on my way.


As I got my AP activated and started getting on course, a feeling of excitement came over me...I was excited that I was heading south and heading to DAYLIGHT!! Only one or two more legs and I should be seeing some beautiful sunshine again....


As I got to cruising altitude (10,000 ft), it was nice to be above the clouds and just sit back and enjoy the bright stars.   No northern lights tonight though.  ???


During the flight the temperature held steady around -30 Celcius. But then suddenly, I must have hit a pocket of warm air because the temperature jumped up to +4 celcius and then quickly dropped back down to -41 celcius...whats up with that?!  ???


As I was on approach to Resolute, and for the first time in many many many days....I actually saw another aircraft! I was so excited...I tried to radio him just say HI but he was not responding...oh well...at least it was comforting to know that I was not the only nut-job way up here!

Taxied to parking and went through the shut down procedures. This airport was like an international airport compared to Alert. There were a few resteraunts, motels, and everything. So...the first place I went was to the pub and had myself a nice Captain Morgan to celebrate....
