As I'm a tad rusty I've been messing around refreshing my memory. I found this unusual type while hunting round the CFS2 section for goodies. A nice FSDS2 model of the Heinkel He 100-D by Gerald Lindell. It was designed by Walter, one of the talented Gunter brothers, as a competitor to the Bf 109. Despite the prototype version setting the new world speed record of 464 mph it missed out to the 109. Only a few were built but the story doesn't stop there. As the non-existent He 113 it was the subject of a successful propaganda coup. More details here. http://www.pro.gov.uk/inthenews/heinkel_he_113/heinkel1.htm
In fact many experienced RAF fighter pilots reported encounters with them throughout the BoB & afterwards. I always thought it was a nice looking aircraft.

First in CFS2.

You can't do this in FS. Wink

The pretty little He 100 looks good in FS9 as well. It also has a nice DVC.

Nice pics, but the propaganda article was great. I especially liked the note that stated at it's beginning, the He 113 probably did not exist, yet a few lines down, seemed to say that it did exist. Confusing times.

Thaks Guys.
Ace, where did you spring from? I told you I was a tad rusty. I shall have to keep an eye out for you in future. LOL Grin

PS. Fido. Basing the propaganda on the He 112 (not the He 100) would make it much easier to understand the mythical "He 113" being mistaken for a Spitfire. You can see from my first shot that the He 100 looks more like a Ju 87 Stuka in plan view. Remind me to finish the story of the Gunter brothers designs some time. I think you will find it interesting. Wink

Not important where you took off from as long as you can find somewhere to land before your fuel runs out. Wink

Piece of useless information. I attended my first ATC gliding course at RAF Hawkinge in 1959 followed by an advanced course in 1960. You could still clearly see a line of bomb craters right across the field from the air. Sadly it was closed some years ago & is no longer an airfield.

Too bad the He-100 never saw active service. It was in design competition with th Me-109 and lost based mostly due to political reasons. Ernst Heinkel fell out of favor with Goring and the Luftwaffe and Willy Messerchmitt was comitted to Hitler and the NSDAP (Nazi Party) , if flight sim shows any of the real characteristics then the Luftwaffe missed out on a great aircraft  -  Mike Tyler Embarrassed
