Well it's Thanksgiving day here, that wonderful time when you get to hang out with people you purposely try to avoid the rest of the year (this also occurs at Christmas, on a bigger scale for the most part.)
I was wondering if Thanksgiving is just an American thing or if it is celebrated in other parts of the world also.
&&Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...&&

Hi guys,
I am a Quebecois, wich means that I live in Quebec/Canada. About your question, yes we have thanksgiving but it is the first monday of september.
I don't remenber what exactly we celebrate, I know that it is religious, but in Quebec nobody believe in god and Jesus. So we don't care about religion, we don't celebrate, it is just fun because we have a day off or we can work this day an earn 2,5 more money.
Cheers

No thanks giving in the UK. When ever we hear about it we just go "Oh, its that day again that people across the pond celebrate". We did not have any pilgrim stuff happening here or atleast we don't celebrate it we have much weirder stuff to celebrate. Like Christingle and bonfire night, which is cool... very cool.

Happy thanksgiving to you too Paz.
Well yes it is an American holiday, it celebrates our continetnt having been discovered, and giving thanks to those who bravely ventured across the pond to find it.
And having a great feast together to celebrate is always a good thing, no matter what the reason.
Sadly tho it looks like I will be spending it at home with just my good friend Sebastion(my cat) and he & I will have a feast of our own, though not the traditional turkey & all............just meatloaf & mashed potatoes, and cheese cassarole
And with you all here at SimV,.................

Have a great Thanksgiving guys
I'm off to cook some dinner
Ozzy
Ps. Paz its most definately only in the US. It was done by the original pilgrims to thank the native Americans for helping them survive. Odd how that policy quickly got turned on its head.....
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

You can say that again! On a somewhat similar note, most people still believe Colombus discovered America. Wasn't it the Vikings?
I don't fancy Thanksgiving dinner too much, so I'll just have some turkey & stuffing, with lots o' pumpkin pie!
Think about it though, wouldn't it be silly to see Kuntushi Lei in Tokyo celebrating the pilgrims thanking Indians?
PS: I won't call them native americans! It's too polotically correct! Although Indians live in India...

They have a Thanksgiving in Plymouth, England, to celebrate the origional Pilgrims finally going.
They celebrate the fact that the pubs and strip shows could re-open without all the religious types that left on the Mayflower moaning at them! (J/k)
Who switched the lights off? I can't see a thing....... Hold on, my eyes were closed. Oops, my bad...............&&

Man, i am glad we don't have thanksgiving in Belgium. That would mean 3 holidays with the family in 1 month, since we have Christmas and New years eve comming on soon!
On the other hand i would like an extra Holiday!
Well, i hope you American members enjoy ( or enjoyed it, since i think it was yesterday) yourselves!

We celebrate it very slightly as an ally and a friend etc. We don't get a day off though.
