Fairchild`s C-119 ready for TO from KSWF in Newburgh, NY

Gaining altitude. That`s the NY state "Thruway" along the bottom edge.

Crossed the Hudson River.

The first prototype wasn`t flown until September 10, 1944.

"The first C-119 made its maiden flight in November 1947 and by the time production ceased in 1955, more than 1,150 C-119s had been built."
