I was flying this f-18 today and after I took off, the gear was gone, and I knew I had not retracted it.
so I rerset the flight and found that the tires exist but they have no struts!!

The plane was made for FS2k2 and I was using it in FS9.  This is odd- it's a fantastic plane.... and the gear was cool! Anybody know why this might happen??

I took these shots...

Talk about "Air - Soft" suspension!!  Grin

Dont know why that would happen but if you restart FS and then they show up, I would think its a memory issue...

The answer is elementary dear Watson. That F18 was not fully compatible with Fs9 and you got a pop warning when you selected that aircraft for flight! The warning told you that if you leave the aircraft as is, that it may cause a failure to Fs9 and gave you the option to use it and have the program delete uncompatibel parts.

Well there you have it! I am sure you can't adjust the flaps on it either. Same thing happened to me when I was trying to use the RFTomcat file in FS9. I had partial gears and no controls of the flaps. The aircraft flew though!

A little advise, see if you can find a later model of the F18 in Fs2002 directory. Try to find one that is a GMAX model. Those are usually the ones compatible with FS9 I am flying an FS2002 Gmax F14 Tomcat and it flies real well with all functions in FS9!

Its only in your mind, strong mind, strong soul and nobody can take that from you!

when that pop came up did you say yes or no? If you said yes try saying no, well in this case just change the answer in the FS9.cfg
go to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

look for the line: [FrameCallNoWarn]
Change the F-18 from a "0" to a "1" like I have done

B36 Peacemaker v=1
EB52V3=1
EB52V2=1
B-52H Stratofortress=1
B-52H Stratofortress Carpet Bomb=1
Lockheed SR-71A=1

My sim has not crashed at all by saying "NO"

Good luck
Chris

Thanks.  I probably had that error a while back when I first was browsing by library in FS9.  Don't remember what I said.  I'll try changing the FS9.cfg.

one question though- is the fs9.cfg located in the main fs9 folder?  I searched for it once because there was some mod I wanted to do to it, but I didn't find it.
