I was on my way to Austin from Dallas the other night and I came up with a good way to keep the sunglare down in the cockpit during the day, but have a crystal-clear view at night.
To do this, start a new Gmax scene. All you need to do is create a single poly so you can see it in VC mode.
Now do the following:
Material Color: 255,255,255 (white) Texture color: 0,0,0 (black) Alpha: 128,128,128 LM_Texture: 255,255,255 (white) LM_Alpha: 230,230,230
Now export it and see if it makes things easier to see during the day or not. If the black texture makes it difficult to see, try making it lighter and lighter shades of gray or slightly blue.
If someone would take about 30 minutes, they could do this whole thing. I think it might dramatically increase the realism of flying during the day, but still give you a clear view for night-landings.
