Town passes ordinance requiring firearms
GEUDA SPRINGS, Kan. — Residents of this tiny south-central Kansas community have passed an ordinance requiring most households to have guns and ammunition.
Noncomplying residents would be fined $10 under the ordinance, passed 3-2 earlier this month by City Council members who thought it would help protect the town of 210 people. Those who suffer from physical or mental disabilities, paupers and people who conscientiously oppose firearms would be exempt.
"This ordinance fulfills the duty to protect by allowing each individual householder to provide for his or her protection," said Councilman John Brewer.

There is no D@MN way that a common criminal would ever want to mess with that town.
There is this woman who is a very stron advocate of firearms.
She said that the communities that use firearms for residents rather more often than cops, have a lower crime rate than the communities that DON'T use firearms.
I'm a strong supporter of that idea as well. Remember, every human has a right to protect their property and family.

This could only happen in America, at least I sincerely hope so. This town apparently has a population of 210 people. How can you be 100% certain that every one of those people is an honest upstanding citizen & fit to handle a gun?

Because in a town that small, you're either related to everyone, or you know everyone really well

NONONONOoo I don't mean in that sort of way.
All of them registered guns (in case you didn't know you basically need a permit to breath in Switzerland) I believe taht if handled in the right way guns can be a very usefull deterant but it will require alot of refinement in the gun handling laws.
I know in this country people REALLY hate guns but if used responsibly are very usefull.

This is a very controversial subject & I don't want to get involved in that. Before quoting Switzerland as an example I think you should appreciate the true facts about their gun laws. Despite claims that Switzerland is one of the most armed countries in the world, only 27% of Swiss households have firearms, 60% of which are military weapons. This is a neutral country & as part of the their compulsory military service
Quote:
all able-bodied males from 20 to 42 years of age are required to keep rifles or handguns at home.
I don't think it's unusual in most countries for a soldier to take his weapon home.
While their murder rate is below average I believe that Switzerland has the highest suicide rate in Europe, many firearm related. The Swiss are now seriously reconsidering their liberal gun laws.
