Hi, new to the BBS, but certainly not to simviation.com.  Love the airplanes and have downloaded quite a bit to my various flight sims (FS98, FS2k, FS2k2 Pro, FS2k4).  Currently am running FS2k2 Pro and would like some help in generating my own weather using the FS weather generator itself (no add-ons, please).  Is there any kind of tutorial out there to instruct how to use the "weather" features in FS2k2 Pro?

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

I use trial and error!  I have never found a tutorial for the weather but play with it and see what happens.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

I think it's not too hard.  You can choose the altitudes for the clouds, conditions, rate of change, etc...  I'm afraid I've never seen a tutorial on it.  Wink

Thanks for the responses so far.  I didn't think it would be too hard for some, but I'm a novice when it comes to weather phenomenons, so I'm somewhat lost as to what to do.....especially when I want to create winter weather, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.

Still have no interest in any add-ons right now.  However, I may reconsider if you recommend any freeware available to generate complex weather situations.  Thanks again.

Pity I have never been able to create a hurrucane in FS2002. Trial&error is my method.

I don't think that the weather system in FS2k2 is comprehensive enough to generate a hurricane. You could generate hurricane-like conditions by making A very thick layer of Cumulonimbus/Thunderstorm 8/8ths (200-30,000ft?).  Add wind at 20kts gusting to 120kts, 100% precipitation and high humidity.  Make the turbulance silly and the shear abrupt and you will see some interesting flying/sick bag contents....

This would make a static direction Hurricane.  To emulate the "eye" you could turn the weather down for five minutes and then turn it all back on with the wind in the opposite direction.
