Hiya all, I need alittle info on something. I am almost completley blind to this stuff. Recently TJ Gumby helped me getting all my project AI planes flying. Here is my question, I visit avsim almost everyday to see what new downloads they have. There is a section called "FS2004 Airport and Facilities Data". They are afcad files for airports.
1. What do they actually do that is different from the TTools afcad I allready have running all my AI traffic?
2. Are they easy to install?
Thanks for your help!

Dave, the only thing I have noticed when I install those files (Im stillf airly new at this CoF flight sim) is a LOT more planes at the gates of the airports I install. Seems some of the traffic is PAI aircraft that now have a home Smiley

Not sure if that helped at all or not

Thanks Savas! I have never edited ttools or afcad, (if that is even possible)! What do you do with the downloaded file?
Thanks from one "newbie to traffic tools" to another!  Wink

Hi Dave:
Those files hold all the changes that the designer made to the airport (parking, taxiways, runways etc.). Afkad 2 makes a seperate .bgl that will overide the default .bgl without modifing it. If you decide you don't like the designer's modifications, you can remove the .bgl and the default airport settup will return.

Thanks for responding TJ!
That makes sense and that is what I thought they were for. One last question then....
When I open up the downloaded Zip file, what do I do?
Is there a file I put someplace, Are there lines I need to add to something?
As you can see, I am new to this. You want to talk graphics, I can go on forever,....but this stuff is very new to me. After seeing what Pippin is doing with all his AI, I think I might want to get a handle on this part of the sim. Thanks agian and look foward to hearing omn what I need to do to take the downloaded file and getting it into my sim!

Thanks again,
Dave

The .bgl goes here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery  Wink

OK, now that is easy since I am very familiar with these folders. See, all I had to do was ask. So basically since I add alot of scenery add ons in the same folders, the afcad is the same thing?
Thank you very much for that quick response TJ. The two times I have visited this forum have been painless!! LOL  Grin

Cheers and have a nice weekend!

If you guys go to http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net and go to the forums.  Check the technical support forum and there is a sticky pertaining AFCADS.  There is an Afcad 2 download .exe file that will give you around 330 new afcads.  It's a nice bulk download and they're all named conveniently.

No, afcad files are universal, they run off of the airline codes.

those BGL files will add nothing more but parking at airports that might not already have it.

As I have done alot of the military releases, my files also have flight plans, and airport data.

If you add the BGLs you will also need to add airport info to the airport.txt file. If you want my flight plans and static airplanes to show you need to have the same planes installed and the aircraft.cfg

check out some of my other posts to see how to add that. It should be included in the readme.

If there is an airshow with in 2 states of me I'm there&&...&&&&
