Just returned from the local gas station and couldn't believe what I found... Beeman's gum!
This gum was first made in 1898. It was very popular in the 1950s, and has been off the market for a while, Five years to be exact. I see alot of references to this gum in aviation movies and articles. Just thought I would post this find for those that might be interested.

Mmmm beeman's gum,
Kevin

The same thought occurred to me. LOL Wink

Personally I can't abide gum or watching people constantly chewing it. If it was up to me I would ban it completely like they do in Singapore. The state of the pavements around here might have something to do with it - & the countless pairs of shoes that have been ruined. Remind me to take a photo of our local shopping precinct some time. Disgusting stuff. Angry

Wow, I saw a display with Beemans just the other day too, hadn't seen any since my youth. It was at a QFC grocery here in Renton, Wa. havent seen it anywhere else, but then it may be quite common up here in the Northwest for all I know, havent lived here long.
Yep it was Chuck Yeagers favorite, in fact he & his friend Jack Riddley had some sort of ritual,............right before a test flight, Chuck would ask if he would loan him a stick and would pay him back later...........sort of an Omen. Wink

The reason you have not seen it in a while is because for the last five years there was not any made. It is now being made again but I can not find if it is for a limited time only or if its back to stay. I bought two cases as it is my favorite gum also.
I somewhat agree Hagar. While I obviously chew gum (hence the whole reason I started this thread), I never do so in public. I can not stand to look at people chewing gum. Most of them have never learnt to chew with their mouths shut and make awfull smacking noises, not to mention that I was always taught to never speak with something in my mouth as it was rude and disrespectfull. As for the state of your pavements, ours over here are not much better. As a matter of fact I ruined a pair of nice pants the last time I went to the theater because some immature person thought it would be a good idea to stick his gum to the inside of the arm rest (the manager did refund the cost of the two tickets I had bought and gave me four free passes to keep me from raising hell in his theatre though).

Chewing gum in a mature manner,

Kevin

Hmmm, well Stryker, in that case I geuss I better go get me a stick or two, no telling if this a limited thing.
Heh, and yeah I agree with ya on the disrespectful way in which some folks chew.
My dad had always taught me to save the foil wrapper, and use it to put the gum in when Im done, and to throw it away properly.............in a waste basket!
Hehe, and how to keep ones mouth shut. Wink
I  as an apartment maint. tech have to deal with alot of gum on the walkways and such, sure is a pain to get it off now that we cant use freon to freeze it and just pop it off the pavement. Angry
