Not sure this is the forum to ask in but here goes.
My father flew the P-51D Little One III as a member of the Blue Nose Bastards of the 352th FG (Second to None).  He is the last of 4 ace in a day pilots from the 352th still living today.
I have no experance or tools to repaint an aircraft and want to know if anyone would be able to do a repaint.
I have the Reno Racers P-51 and it has the Moonbeam Mc. from the 352th in it.  The changes would be the name, tail color (red), the tail number, and the large letters on the side.  I assume that these are all added after the base paint goes on but have no idea if I am right.  Mack???

Mack - - it isn't that easy to just 'tack on' Little One III.

Those (expletive deleted) ground crews of the 352d FG liked to use fancy lettering on the canopy frame to put their pilot's name on the port side (what went on the starboard side?)

A quick search of the 'net for the ill-fated machine (destroyed on the ground) shows up a couple of photos, one with 13 kill markings (and they weren't just straight crosses or swastikas) and another with one line of 6?

I haven't come across a color rendition of 'Little One III' so, what color was the Little One III name?  For the overall scheme, one can base it on one of the many color renditions, especially of G. Preddy's Cripes'A'Mighty.

Lastly, while the squadron code was PE, what was Don's aircraft letter?

Maybe this can be answered with a bit more searching, but just slapping "Little One III" doesn't do justice to a holder of the DFC.

A little more searching brings:

Rev 2.
I had a feeling it was familiar - Flight Journal has an article on four Christmas 1944 Mustang pilots, and there is one by him and a full color port profile of PE-B "Little One III"

Felix,
LO III has a red script outlined with white for the name. I have a number of pictures of a repo which I got to fly in (before it crashed) but not scaned.  Phil Callahan has a number on his site and the following is a side view (nothing was on the reverse except the PE I believe).

As far as the ground crew, Pop's crewchief got the Bronze Star for 350 combat flights (or hours??) without a mechanical abort!!   The Last Reunion was just on PBS about the vets of the 352th.

LO III was the only aircraft distroyed on the New Years Day raid on Y-29.  Pop had 13.?? victories confirmed (all in the air) which included a AR234 jet.  Unoffically he nailed 15.  He's 82 and still full of P... and Vineger.

Thanks for the reply,
Mack   Grin
