here's my problem...i am unable to break the 15fps barrier which seems very low for my 'puter ( specs below ). when i go into the advanced display settings in cfs2, i am unable to check the enable hardware box. I have tried to change various settings in my display properties to correct this, but i can't seem to remedy it. i have tried the 3d programs like rivatuner, geforcetweak,  etc but all to no avail.

any and all help would be greatly appreciated, so thanx in advance! Grin

sys specs as follows:
amd duron 1.2 ghz
geforce ti4200 128mb vid
512 megs ram
sb live! soundcard
windows xp home.

Your system is fine for running CFS2, but there are MANY things you can do to tweak the game, your video card and OS system up to run it and any program/game better.

Take a look at my CFS2 Tweaking guide here. http://www.brennt.com/hoppers/cfs2tweaking.html

I suspect you will need to do a few things to XP also. MY new machine has XP and I sure miss my ME. But it is running well now after a little work.

Good luck pilot.

Hi Elvis...
(Nice to know you are still around...keep twanging your gee-tar)..... Grin...!
LOL...!
See my specs below... Wink...!
My previous set-up with an AMD Duron 850 MMX processor was similar, (identical?),  to yours and really ran with no problems at all.
My frame rates were between 10 and 25 FPS with full settings, which is quite acceptable...!
I have recently installed an AMD Athlon XP 2.6 MMX processor which has only really smoothed put my side views from the cockpit, and also makes banking views a bit smoother with the same settings... Wink...!

Cheers... Grin...!

Foz old bean. When was the last time you fired up CFS2? I would be very disappointed to get less than an average 30 fps in a furball mission with everything maxed out on my low-end rig.

Elvis. CFS2 should run like a rocket on your machine. Try Fireman's tweaking guide.

thanks for the info fireman, very good stuff. popped up my framerate a bit, but i still don't have the "enable hardware acceleration" box available. with the geforce tweaker and a tweak program i found on netwings i can adjust t&l and anti aliasing but i still can't get the 3d hardware settings going. i also only show 16 bit colours on my screen resolution selections. i am assuming that my low framerate is due to the fact that i can't adjust the hardware selection and the 16 bit instead of 32 or 24 bit . having lots of fun with aircraft and missions that i've found on various sites but furballs @ 5 or 6 fps are getting annoying. Sad

Ok, I too had the problem with no 3d acceleration and turned out to be a bad set of drivers for my video card.

First, make sure you have DirectX 9.0b. If not, get it from Microsoft. Then do the following:

Run dxdiag, Start/Run and type in dxdiag. Do all the checks. You just might see a problem pop up indicating there is trouble with 3D Acceleration. If so, you need to get a different set of drivers for your VID card. Maybe update them? But sometimes the newest drivers are NOT the best. Once you get to the point where you can use the 3D Acceleration Option, even if you don't turn it on in the game, you will have more settings in your VID card set up that should vastly improve your frame rates.

With your system, you should be able to play CFS2 with great frame rates no matter what furball you get into!!

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hmm, if only doing that cured my CFS3 woes.....  Roll Eyes

Incidentally, I'd always thought un-installing DX to an earlier version was a very bad idea....   ??? - The joy of XP I suppose (I hav'nt tried this with mine yet....)

Puzzling though, I've got DX9.0b CFS2 works without a problem.

???

Paul.

Hi Uber_Elvis

I had a very similar problem running a more powerful machine but with the ti4200. Go to system info and check out how much memory XP is seeing on your grahics card. As I said I had a ti4200 and it progressively lost its memory without ringing alarm bells in XP. Started off at 128 Mb, dropped to 64 mb and eventually 8. The system took along time to boot as the card degraded.
I got a Radeon 9600 Pro after that and in my system it knocks the socks off the nvidia card.
