The Tornado is a joint project including Britain, Germany and Italy. The company is officially named Panavia. I think the wings were originally manufactured in Italy & fitted at BAe Preston or Samlesbury.

http://www.tornado-data.com/History/history.htm

The engines were develped by Turbo Union,  joint effort by MTU, Rolls-Royce & Fiat.

And the roar of a Rolls-Royce Pegasus about a hundred feet above the ground at full throttle is quite loud too, especially when it's not moving...

...and it still hasn't moved...

...still there...

..B-29s just don't hover do they...

Charlie (that Harrier's still 'overing!)

and yes, Mr Bones I believe the CAF's (Confederate/Commemorative Air Force depending on how old you are) Fifi is the only B-29 still in airworthy order...

for this I'll have to break down to eras

WW1:   Fokker DR1 (no big surprise)

Prewar: Beech  Staggerwing (absolutley beautiful  most of the fighters of the time were junk anyway)

WW2: Focke Wulf 190 (looks better than most fighters of the day on paper anyway)
          lockheed p-38 (grandpa flew one)

early cold war: North American F-86

vietnam era: F-4 phantom (dad flew one)

late cold war: northrop F/A 18 or Saab Viggen

modern era: Lockheed YF-23 (yes its the one that lost the contract) /Lockheed JSF.  F-33 is it? (sorry but the styling of the typhoon just doesn't trip my trigger)

My list is compiled using both performance and styling
this is just military aircraft.  For civilian aircraft I cant even begin to decide.

I will say this though, the two civilian aircraft I would most like to own are a DeHavilland Turbo Otter(go anywhere) and a Grumman Albatross (A flying scuba diving platform would be too cool).
