Why is "W" pronounced Double-You when it's really two V's?

If occasional furniture is furniture occasionally, what is it the rest of the time?

I've pondered this for years....lol.

Hmmm, I've done a through investigation and my computer appears to be made out of plastic, metal, and assorted components made basically from the same material. My TV and speakers are pretty much made of the same materials. I've never seen any of these made of wood...hmmm....guess I'm not shopping at the right stores.

Darn and the hunt for the answer goes on....lol.

I was afraid of that. Maybe he's a sandwich short of a picnic. Working on your basis what do they call someone from the Virgin Islands? Wink

PS. It's Hamburg & Frankfurt. BTW
The residents are called Hamburgers & Frankfurters.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that hamburgers were originally made from ham. Or maybe I imagined it. I have problems separating fact from fiction these days. Roll Eyes ???
Not sure about the frankfurters though. Maybe made from something, animal or mineral in origin, named Frank. ??? Wink

PS. I think they were originally called Frankfurter sausages. The sausage part of the name became redundant over time.

I'll tell you the same thing they told me when I asked what was in a hot dog:

Do you like it?  If the answer is yes, then you don't want to know what's in it. Tongue

Seriously though,  this should explain it...

Frank n a member of a West Germanic people who conquered Gaul in the 4th century AD.
Apparantly they were wiped out in the 5th century AD as a result of the discovery of the sausage into which they formed part of the ingredients.
The sausage was called the Frankfurter.
The present Germans are unaware that they are consuming their ancestors.... Roll Eyes...!
