Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good place in the UK on default scenery where you can do some terrain hugging flying. You know like you see the RAF doing in all those valleys around the UK?

I have not so far been able to find anything in the UK which really replicates this however it is likely I may have been looking in the wrong area.

If FS2002 doesn't do a good job in making the valleys, then does anyone know of any good terrain mesh downloads I could use?

Thanks,

Andy

Andrew I'd recommend the wilds of Scotland as a really good area. Up in the north towards the various islands.

LOL, try living in it....

The problem is that the UK isn't that well modelled, as the poor second cousins to M$ they didn't really consider it important to make the place accurate.

There is a good freeware mesh available by Josiah Haut. He has done meshes for the whole of Europe (the UK model is 2 downloads).
I think he only publishes on flightsim.com though.

British Columbia and Alaska have had the greatest attention by terrain mesh designers. Not only the coastal regions but inland too. I recently downloaded terrain mesh for the mid-Eastern part of BC intended for FS 2K4 that works very well in 2K2. Try taking off from McBride and flying up the Fraser river valley to Mount Robson and beyond - awesome!  Cheesy

Thanks everyone I'll have a look for those terrain meshes you recommended.

I agree that the UK isn't well modelled maybe eventually the FS series will begin to increase the detail as the program develops.
