I prefers Bristols personally. Can always trust a good Mercury, or a Hercules. Nice aeroplane the Beaver...

OK. I give in gracefully. You beat me Foz. There's 100s of Beavers at Avsim. DHC2.zip doesn't exist in their file library. I have no idea which panel to look for. ??? Roll Eyes

Check the date. This file is almost exactly 1 year old. The way you were carrying on I thought it was something new? Wink

PS. I still can't find the aircraft package despite pasting the exact file name & samples of your text in their search gizmo. Shows just how effective that is - I don't think. Roll Eyes

This demonstrates why I prefer SimV. 8)

LOL I only said that as by coincidence it was posted on the 5th November 2002, one year ago yesterday to be precise. You can't get much more "almost exact" than that. 8)

I would willingly check that panel out for you if I could find the bleedin' aircraft to go with it. I'm fed up to the back teeth with searching for it. ??? Roll Eyes

Nah. I'll admit defeat & retire hurt. Like I said, I've tried everything I know to find that file without success. I'm not exactly a newbie at finding stuff.  Life's too short despite your kind offer of tea & bikkies. Sorry Foz. Kiss Roll Eyes

PS. Eureka.........! Found it at last. Roll Eyes

PPS. You forgot to tell me it's 8 Mb. This is likely to take all night. Put 'tkettle on & break out those bikkies. Shocked

Update - Stardate, some time in the middle of the night.
After that wild goose chase you led me on I found the same Beaver package posted right here at SimV. Roll Eyes
http://www.simviation.com/fs2002props43.htm
This is an old FSDS1 model. Although it has a DVC it's basically an FS2000 design updated for FS2002. Nothing wrong with that - except that these are the ones that don't work properly as AI Traffic & also incompatible with FS2004.

I don't have time to finish downloading the panel tonight. If it's the FS2000-style you mentioned with the extra view windows these aren't really suitable for aircraft with a DVC. You either have one or t'other. This might explain your problem.

Mornin' Foz. This your old mate Hagar all bright-eyed & bushy tailed after a much-deserved night's rest. Cheesy

I finally have the all files & here's what I discovered. It's a fine panel & as you mentioned a tad fiddly to install.

There are 2 basic types of panel used in FS.
1. The conventional 2D panel with just the 2D forward view. These are ideal for aircraft with a DVC as all interior views except directly forward are part of the visual model, not the panel.
2. The old FS2000-style "all-round" panel with extra view windows. These are intended for & work best in aircraft without a DVC.

The problem here is that you're using a Type 2 panel in an aircraft with a DVC. Most FS2000 aircraft, including your favourite Beavers, don't have this feature. The white area is a conflict between the DVC on this particular Beaver & the extra panel views. There's nothing wrong with the panel so no amount of BMP tweaking will fix it. Slap it into another aircraft without a DVC & it should work fine..

If you wish to use this panel with this particular aircraft I suggest you delete the extra view window entries from Panel.cfg. I can do this for you if you wish.

I knew I shouldn't have got involved in this in the first place. It's my own fault & I fall for it every time. I started so I might as well finish the job. Tongue Wink Grin

Somehow, I knew that I would see Hagar decipher this prob and have a good workable explanation, but in shorter terms, I think I have it now......
It seems that for all his playing with this Beaver, poor old Foz is just not going to wind up totally satisfied  ???
A very sad state, indeed ! Wink

LOL Rifleman. That old rascal always delights in leading me a merry dance. One day I might learn my lesson. Oops - Hi Foz. Tongue Cheesy

If my old marble had been working properly I would have figured this out much sooner. The grey area in the quarter views is caused by the missing DVC entry in Panel.cfg. For a quick fix, copy/paste the complete [Vcockpit01] entry (including all the gauges) from the original Beaver Panel.cfg into the new one. The static views will still conflict with the DVC which will give you duplicated side & quarter views. This will most likely make you go cross-eyed.  Shocked Roll Eyes Grin

Hi Hagar....
Tee-Hee.... Grin...!
Thanks for trying, at least I've got a better idea of the difference between the FS2000/FS2002 models now....
....(I lie... Cry...)...!
LOL...!

The latest FS 2002 Beavers, (like the one you downloaded), with floats, I find actually float in FS 2002, whereas the FS 2000 Beavers with floats, (Chuck Domes ones with the lovely battleship grey panels), generally sink in FS 2002... Angry.... Cry....!

Like Ken says, I don't have a lot of luck with my Beavers... Roll Eyes...!
LOL...!

Still, I will percivere, (Percy Vere), with a selection of them, and maybe get working models of all the variants using the super-dooper panel in the above pics... 8)...!

Thanks for your help Doug, sorry to have kept you up all last night trying to fix it...
..(That's the second time I have lied...).... Wink...!
LOL...!

Cheers mate... Grin...!
