Reading all these things i notice that you guys are pretty close to professionals so try this one on for size

I want to know if this system i have ordered is a great system to play FS2004 maxed out, or nearly maxedout.
it is a:

P4 processor/3.0 gHZ
1 gig ddr ram
80gig hd
19" monitor
Nividea Geforce4 TI5200 pro

please tell me.  This is worth $3115aus and ihave already ordered it and is in transit

Please tell me if this is going to last a while and provide me with silkt smooth performance i need for FS2004.

Cheers Mick

Sounds good to me. I have FS2004 fairly smooth and your machine is nearly 3 times faster than mine. You probably have a TI4200 because the TI5200 does not exist.  Smiley

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. just a few things....

the cpu is prob about as good as your gonna get so no problems there

the ram is it PC2700 or higher if so should be fine PC3200 ram is quite sufficient also make sure its in 2 x 512 layout as it runs quicker....a gig is more than enough

80 gig is more than enough i should think for the hard drive.. make sure its 7200 not 5400 rpm coz they stink and have a much higher read latency compared to the 7200 rpm one

19" monitor sounds nice nothing realy to add to that

nvidia geforce 4 ti4200..... the main thing here is make sure its the 8x version of this card and that it has 128mb memory....the older 64mb cards do not incorporate direct x 8
...these cards are pretty old now a good year or 2 but i run a ti4200 on my machine and i have it all maxed out....but saying that i have overclocked it to the extreme and it just about keeps up with the FX5600 or the ATI 9500 so im pleased.. i wouldnt suggest overclocking unless you know what your doing.

more specific details on the graphics card would be helpful...

you have quite a fast pc there should get very good performance out of it..if anything is the bottleneck it will be the graphics card

AMD athlon XP2800+ @2.34ghz&&Epox 8RDA3G 400 fsb, 8x AGP&&1024MB DDR400 PC3200&&XFX 256MB FX5950 Ultra (oc 525/1.04)&&40 gig maxtor 7200rpm&&80 gig seagate baracuda 7200rpm&&

What do you mean it's not good for gaming ?!? Smiley

I've been getting upwards of 60 FPS on clear days, and around 20-25 with some pretty nasty weather in the vicinity...

I guess it all depends on all of the other variables that are part of the system as well...
