Hi all,
Has anyone ANY idea why Harrier aircraft pitch heavily nose down when flown in FS2004?
Help!!!

Adam which model Harrier are you using? The new 2k4 one here, or one of the earlier 2k2 models?

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

I'm using my own design as we use in the Royal Armed Forces (virtual) and I need to upgrade it from 2k2 to 2k4 standard....

There is no 2k4 standard. FS2004 ACOF is just one single package with all the goodies.
M$ decided not to do the so-called Standard & Pro method.
Anyways, it has something to do with the Aircraft.cfg file. I have a Skycar [from FS2002] and used it for 2k4. It did the same thing [nose down] as I tried to hover.
It seems as FS2004 is interpreting the aircraft.cfg file a little bit differently when it comes to hovering vehicles. Then again, I could be wrong.

I have downloaded the FS2004 Harrier by Jim Atkins and it does EXACTLY what all the Harriers do in 2k4. You apply full nozzle and she goes heavily nose down regardless of if you hold the stick full back.....

I guess it has something to do with the station loads.
Go to the aircraft.cfg file and open it with notepad. Scroll down and look for section that says "Station Loads".
From here on, it's up to you. You can either move, add, or remove a station load [weight].
I am making an F-117/A Have Blue [predecessor to the Night Hawk] and it's dynamics. This aircraft did go nose down at the start of the flight. It's flight dynamics are now being finished by someone who is helping.
Anyways. Try it. It just might work. If it doesn't, then look for the position of the aircraft's engines in the file. If the engine position is on the rear, then the thrust of the engine is probably pushing the aircraft up by the tail. Try moving it forward.
If this does not help, then I am stupified.

Hi all,
I managed to solve the problem but not by shifting the CofG. The aircraft only went nose down once nozzles/flaps were applied to shifting the CofG would only have served to make the thing unbalanced in level flight....
I figured it must be down to the pitching moment induced by the flaps so I used AIRED and changed that value slightly. It worked!
