I know that for some of you out there this is old news but I thought I would post some of what a local newspaper, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, printed on Friday (Oct. 31).....
"The Concorde, the supersonic jet that once represented the cutting edge in aviation, will soon become a museum piece in Seattle.
Wendnesday afternoon (Nov. 5), the 203-ft. long Concorde will land at Boeing Field and taxi to the Museum of Flight, which will become its permanent home and a place for everyone to see the sleek aviation legend.
The Concorde-curious can see the plane's exterior, up close, after it touches down at about 3 p.m. After a period of prepatation for public view, it will be completely open so visitors to the museum can see the inside of its long, narrow cabin.....
.....After the landing ceremonies are over next week, museum staffers will prepare it for permanent public display, set to begin Nov.28....."
Currently the Museum of Flight is being expanded, which began eailer this year. The existing section of the museum is still open to the public while the expansion is taking place. The new portions of the mesuem are scheduled to be opened in Feburary of 2004. (For those interested, I saw a shark mouth P-40, maybe an E, in one of the museum's storage buildings!) Come on over and take a look!!

Yeah, thats probably a good reason not to make the trip.
Anyway, the wierd thing is that I have lived in the Pacific Northwest for 18 years and have never made the trip to Seattle to see the museum. Just seems odd that I've never gotten around to it.

8)Ahh yes, I saw that on the news today when I got home, too bad I'll be working tomorrow or I'd be right there.
I visit over there at Boeing/King field just about every week, just to hang out ect. shop at the pilot shop(The Aviator Store) and also to visit the museum.
Just moved up here 4 month's ago, used to live in Phoenix, but got tired of the heat, now im tired of the rain................oh well.

I've never been to Seattle, but I flew through the airport once on a stopover. This may be worth a trip...

Well it looks like Denishc and i both live here in the Seattle area, cool!
Yes there are quite a few old warbirds that will be at the museum soon and I just happen to know where they came from.
Hehe, they come the same place I just did 4 month's ago,..........Arizona! Yep, all the planes that were at the now closed down "Champlin Fighter Museum" in Mesa Arizona were transfered up here to Seattle to now make their home at Boeing's Museum of Flight.
They are probabaly stored(hidden away) in some hangars somwhere at Boeing field to be put on display as they finish up the expansion.
Im quite pleased about this, mainly cause on Father's day this year I was still living in Phoenix, Az. and after being there for some 12 yrs I was finally going to visit the museum in Mesa to see the fighter's there.
But low& behold when I arrived I found the museum all closed up and devoid of anything but the two 1/4 scale models mounted on poles just outside the entrance
Well,.......looks like I'll get my father's day wish after all

Hey guys,
The Concorde arrived in Seattle yesterday and it set a new time record from New York to Seattle. I think it was just over 3 hours and 11 minutes (sorry I don't have the numbers in front of me right now).
For now the Concorde is parked in the museum's parking lot, it takes up about half the lot and is visible from the highway (saw it tonight on my way home form work). A real slick Bird!!
Yo SabreHawk, what kind of warbirds can we expect from the Champlin Fighter Museum? Didn't they have a FW-190D? Can't wait till the museum opens its new additions so I check them out!!

Well that's just it, heh, Im anxious for it to open up too as I didn't get to see the darn things when they were at the Champlin museum there in Mesa, heh, I went for 5yrs without a car, I finally got one and to celebrate I drove out to the museum only to find it closed down.
Heck I didn't even get to go into the Comemorative air Force museum next door to it cause it was on a sunday and it was colosed that day too
Hah! But I geuss fate has come around because another turn of events brought me up here and so........here I am where the planes wound up.
Yeah I assume there are many of our favorites in the collection, the is at least i know a P-51, & a spitfire, & a P-38. And im sure we are in for a treat in any case
Yep, we'll have to meet up & have coffee at Randy's or somthin, and shoot the breeze. 8) I dont live far, right now im in Newcastle, but by the end of the month or so I'll be living in Renton.
