Hi I just got fs2002 and the old bag wont pass me in the test so i cant go on, can u helP. Also what extras should i download and how do i install them to jaz it up a bit.

Is ther ea way you can teach nme to fly online?

Hi Mandy,

First off, the checkrides in FS2002 are full of bugs.

Second, what kind of flying do you like to do? That will give us an idea of what kind of addons to recommend Wink

thanks for saying hi, i like the idea of going low and slow and seeing more than high up and really fast.

Ive only had it a week and can fly the cessna pretty good!

Hi Mandy

I would suggest going through the SimV FS2002 prop sections to see what you might like. There's hundreds of high quality addons for download, the hardest part is deciding what you want.

Hi Mandy, well you could do worse than try our vintage downloads section. Lots of great biplanes for tottering around gently in. Personally I love the Tiger Moth and the Stearman.
Bush flying is normally associated with flying small planes in remote regions, Alaska is famous for it, and we have loads of add-ons for Alaska, and a great selection of light aircraft for just this.

You might want to download the British Columbia Terrain Mesh scenery files. I use the Vancouver area scenery files too and fly the C2 Beaver on floats. Great scenery, great 'plane, lot's of fun.

Another thing mandy is what Internet connection do you have

56k modem
cable
dsl

If you have a fast connection (like cable or dsl) you have access to many more big downloads - some beautiful aircraft can be up to 50 MB which would be a looooooong download on modem

Same goes for scenery which can be just as important as aircraft - eg mesh scenery gives you proper mountains, hills and lakes. Again, it's easy getting into 60 MB + downloads when you start doing mesh scenery which it's nice to do if you want to go low and slow.

Finally (for now) computer specs - wot speed is your machine, how much memory dya have and wot graphics card?

Tell us and we'll know how far you can turn up your sliders because that affects your enjoyment of the sim as well in all sorts of ways.

BTW welcome to the forum. Sorry if you thought that we're a bit shy or slow in coming forward!. You're not alone. There's Stormy , Britney, Self to name but 3 and I'm sure a few more ladies I've missed so you're in good company! Wink

Thanks for all the feedback.

I have dial up but can usually download a 50 60 mb file o/night in a 5 hour session.

I have windows xp, nvidia ti4200 vid card 512mb ram 120gb hard drive.

The pitch slide wheel thing down the bottom of the panel in the cessna is a bit confusing.

Sounds like the pitch thing you're referring to is the pitch trim in the picture...

Once you get the nose of the airplane at the right pitch you can adjust the pitch trim to hold it there enabling you to "let go" of the controls.

Installing planes is usually as simple as extracting from winzip into the FS2002/aircraft folder. Most designers set it up so that all the files fall into the right places. Installing panels may involve additional steps. There's always a readme file to explain what to do. FS2002 is very easy to tweak and customize once you play around with a few .cfg files. Always back them up before you tinker with them.
