Online with Vatsim...good fun (Read 292 times)

For all you people who wonder what it's all about, a small impression from tonight after arriving in EDDF Hamburg flying online with Vatsim.
All this stuff is free. You get great realtime weather, real ATC and real people in virtual planes who sometimes hardly know what they are doing. It's an absolute blast.
After arriving in Germany you speak to Germans and sometimes I get so confused I order my wife to bring me "ein pilsener bitte" because it feels like being in Germany for real. Have a look.

Check out Servinfo....lot of traffic tonight. Positions manned at tower, departure and radar at Hamburg. Also at EHAM Amsterdam.
...

Arrived safely at EDDH. Lufthansa pilots park their planes pretty strange...easier for the passengers they say.
...

...but they taxi even stranger. My plane is a KLM cityhopper Fokker 70 from Project Fokker100/70. Great (freeware) plane
...

Arrivals and departures everywhere. Landing RW23, departing RW15. Hard work for the controller as these two cross eachother.
...

I set my flighttime to early in the morning, hence the long shadows.
...

That's it. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
(that's how you feel afterwards - grinning like mad)

Cheers
AJ

yes it's 2k2. Doesn't Project Fokker have a fs2004 update?

And yes, cityhoppers go to Germany.
I installed a nice KLM/NWA timetable. You can check (onder andere) departure, arrival, flightnumber and aircraft type. Before I fly I try to find a real flight to my destination, take the flightnumber and go.
Here's link

You really should Roller. It is so totally different from the offline game. It takes some time to get to grips with the extra programs but once you get it (and this may take a few frustrating hours) you will never want to do anything else.
DO IT!!! Grin

Hey Jonathan - perhaps we should do an Ozzy/Fozzer/Smoke and have a little practise session some time.

There's a 'fly on line' section on Simviation that I was looking at the other day - perhaps our old mate Mark will give us some advice on how to get started.

Should think there are quite a few more people out there who'd like to know as well.
