  Due to recent solar activity which scientists are saying is at a peak for recent years, there is supposed to be a good chance for a huge display of the aurora Borealis even at lower latitudes.

  A couple of years ago I was listening to my police scanner while I was lying in bed, there was a bunch of people calling the police reporting a strange green glow in the sky, it turned out to be quite a phenominal auroral display, probably the best I can ever remember seeing here in Lower Michigan.
  I would like to see another show like that one, I remember the sky changing from green to red to yellowish, and I never even stepped outside, just watched out the window, considering we live in town with all the streetlights and all, I can only imagine how brilliant it must had looked farther out in the country where there is less light pollution.
  At present we have broken clouds with a light hazy overcast, so I don't know if we will be able to see anything or not, if it occurs too late I will be sleeping anyways.
  I suppose I will just listen to my scanner when I go to bed, when the simple minded people start calling 911 reporting weird colors in the sky, I will know to get up and look out the window.

That might have been the same display that I saw a couple years ago. It was incredible. The whole sky was changing colors from Blue, green, red,& yellow.

Since it had been so long since I had seen the Northern Lights, I wasn't even sure what it was at the time so I didn't bother waking anyone up. I remember describing it to my family the next day, they weren't very happy with me Grin

That is simular to the northern lights I last saw in whitehorse, Yukon, there was no moon, and I was with a friend sleeping the night out onn Marsh Lake in a quency that we built a couple days earlier... Well to get to the point, they were sooooo bright that I could see my shadow Shocked

in the southern hemisphere we get Aurora Australis but im at to greater latitude to see it.  Would be spectacular tho . . . .  Embarrassed
