Here's a few old photos I took at various RAFA displays at Shoreham. Sorry for the poor quality. I could do better with my new camera. I thought they were worth posting as some of these aircraft are no longer around.
No apologies for showing the Blenheim again. This time in her original (I think) markings.
"Taff" Smith's Hurricane Mk XII (G-HURR) in nightfighter markings..
Beech Expeditor in SEAC markings. this is a guess as I have no records of this aircraft or where she came from.
This baby takes some taxying, usually with a lookout sitting on the wing. Large-scale model Stampe from our local RC club in the background.

You're quite right Pete. It's operated by the Bournemouth Aviation Museum. I haven't seen it for a while so I'm not sure it's still around.
According to their home site it's an EKW C-3605 Schlepp although it's usually billed as a Dornier.

It's very rare & the only example on the UK register.

Why is it on the Hurricane, the letters are in different order? I can understand them being reversed like LKA-AKL, but these are LKA-ALK. ???

This is quite normal on RAF aircraft. On this particular Hurricane, LK is the Squadron code & A is the individual aircraft ident letter. They're positioned appropriately either side of the RAF roundel. This one would be A for Apple in the WWII phonetic alphabet. The Blenheim would be just the same (C - Charlie).

You got the idea. The ID letters would be random & not necessarily run in sequence. Many aces were allowed to choose their own ID letter & this became associated with them wherever they went. This might have been painted on more than one aircraft.

For example, LE-D or (D-LE) was Douglas Bader's Hurricane when he commanded 242 squadron. JE-J (or J-JE) is Johnny Johnson's Spitfire. Jeffrey Quill, Supermarine's Chief Test pilot thoughout the war, flew Spitfire Mk Vb (AB910) for many years after WWII in his own personal markings QJ-J.This aircraft is now operated by the BBMF.
