okie dokie, i have now finally seen this movie, pretty good movie, however i have to say i was def not happy with the end. how could they do it, how could they kill Data. i mean why not someone else, Worf would have been better his whole klingon tradition and honor. But Data Cry Cry
As fans may be aware who have seen this though, and have heard from cast, this movie was design and written as such to create an open option for one more movie, depending in a few years whether or not the cast want to go one last time for the all out end.
I seriously hope they do, just to bring back data(how i dont know but this is the star trek world it is possible).

I must lead a very sheltered life. This is what the word "spoilers" means to me. Roll Eyes

Craig, I don't think that Data is actually gone.  Remember they found the original prototype of him on that planet and reassembeled him.  Then, in the process of fixing his programing-they backed up Data's system because they needed to use (I think I remember them say it rather bluntly too).  So, it's concivabe that they can put the memories and life of Data into the prototype of data and he will be himself again.  But then again, I could be wrong.

What I hated was how it ended with Picard.  He just kind of sat there while Data came in and saved the day.  That's not the Picard that Roddenberry designed.

Also, I really doubt there will be another one.  The reason being that the crew has been so spread out-3 members may be missing from the Enterprise's bridge (at least 2).  Data might be gone-and they need a new first officer, it just wouldn't seem right without Riker.  So, I doubt there will be another.

i dont know if you have seen the DVD version?
but  yes you are right about the back up into B-4. however one thought i have running is that the Data that went to the scimitar was actually B-4 after the data download.
anyway according to the extra features, they left the ending as it should be. with the way it ended it could either be a final one or theres that option for last one movie because of the way B4 was at the end.
had they gone with the scene they removed from the film, then it would have been given a definate end.

Brent Spiner had quite a bit of input into his character in that movie and I believe he co wrote his "death scene."
The book was slightly better than the movie, but I don't think it came close to "First Contact".
Paterick Stewart said he may do another movie, but I think that "Nemesis" will end up being the final Next Gen outing.
