Okay, I want you (the users) to help me in my choice. Bear in mind things like:-
1) Versatility
2) How similar is the work to CFS1
3) How common are multiplayer events
I don't want to influence you, so be honest and vote.
Thanks a bunch,

Before I vote I would like to see if you understand that 2002 is a civil flight sim  ie no shooting, no guns, no bombs, no combat.
With that said IMHO there is nothing that CFS1 has that FS2002 can't beat. Graphics, planes, panels, weather, EVERYTHING is better in FS2002.

1) Versatility--- This sim is one of the most versatile things i have ever seen. You can tweak it, add things to it, even control it from third party software.

2)How similar to CFS1--- better in everyway (unless you are more in to combat sims)

3)How common are multiplayer events--- pretty common if you look in the right places.

Keep in mind that multiplayer events for FS2002 will become less common as time goes by since FS2004 is gaining popularity and more people are buying it.

Personally I would not reccommend buying 2002 as I have it and 2004 and I find 2004 is much better.
If you are more into combat sims get CFS2 or CFS3.
I got a copy of CFS2 at circuit city for $9.99US
CFS3 was only $19.99US but I have heard of people having problems with it.

sorry this is so long

Go for FS2004  its the best!

Yeah, I knew. In fact,  rarely play combat, just civil. I would like fs2004 but I don't think it will run on my machine. Here's the specs:

Microsoft Windows 98
GenuineIntel Pentium(r) III Processor 500Mhz
128MB RAM 100mhz
Windows-managed swap file on drive C (6298MB free)
Available space on drive C: 6298MB of 12405MB (FAT32)
30MB RIVA TNT2 AGP Graphics card
40*12*40 CD RW drive.

The Processor and graphics card are my main worries. The C of F site has full MINIMUM spec. It has a 450mhz processor listed.

Will it run well? Thanks,

You should be able to run 2k2 with that system but it will be a slide show around the larger airports.  I have a beast compared to your system and my frame rates suck at times.

Today I managed a massive 4.5 FPS in Chicago.  Wahoo..  I had to turn the settings down a tad.

Hi  Grin

I don't think a COF is a radical improvement on Flight 2K2 to be honest. Compare Flight 98 to Flight 2000 now that was an improvement.
I think I'll wait for the next installment unless of course there's a radical improvement on the price we're paying here in the UK.  Embarrassed

Regards

Phil
