I am a very strong supporter for the Florida Marlins. They have pulled off many miracles in such a short time.

According to this Championship Series, there are 7 games to play. A team will need to win 4 out of 7 of these games in order to move on to the World Series.

In 1997, the Marlins lost the first three games, but have managed to beat their nemesis for the next 4 games (they won 4 games in a row). Then they made it to the World Series. And there, they beat the Atlanta Braves at (if I can remember correctly) at 3-2.

This year, the Marlins won the first game, but lost the next three. However, as if it was fate, the Marlins won the following three games. Shocked Thus, tied with the Chicago Cubs at 3-3 (# of games, not homeruns).

Game 6 (last night) was the best game I have ever seen. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that Cubs fan ruin it for the Cubs.  Grin Shocked The camera crew kept showing his face on the big screen for a long time (until the end of the game). I have just heard (on the news) that his seat number was Row-9 Seat-11. WTF??!!! No way!!!!! Shocked Go figure. LOL

How did he ruin it for the Cubs?  It was ONE play, and it hardly resulted in 8 runs in the 8th inning alone.  The Cubs choked.  I think we've all known that it happens quite a bit. Wink

PS...I'd like to see 'em win it, just because.  lol

He didn't ruin it for the Cubs at all.  First, he didn't do it on purpose.  Secondly, if your sitting there and you see a foul ball coming your way, what do you do?  and, what are you watching?  He didn't even see that Alou was trying to make a catch.

Also, this event would have had nothing to do with anything had a few moments later Alex Gonzalez not had a problem getting that ground ball.  Had he got it, it would have been an easy double play and the inning would have been over.  That's what killed them, not that fan.

That's why I feel bad for him.  All the fans were after him the rest of the game, yet he didn't have bad intentions at all.   Undecided

I saw the last game as well. It was gooooooood and even greater (well, not that great). Grin

Did you people see the news about everyone, here in South Florida? I am at my little quiet neighborhood that is Farr farr far away from noise. However, everyone in South Florida is beeping their cars so much (and together) that I can here all the cars on the major streets from all the way here, in my home. Grin Cheesy

Now, I have just heard about another curse. This time, it's about the Boston Red Sox.

How the legend goes: The Bambino Curse

Babe Ruth (I heard he was called the Great Bambino) was a rookie for the Boston Red Sox.

While he was still a rookie, the Red's manager wanted to sell him out to another team. Babe tried to convince the manage to not to sell him out. He said "You guys need me. If you sell me out, you will never see the series ever again." Man, a curse made by a legendary batter. OMG!!!! Undecided Lips Sealed The manager still decided to sell him out. And he did. Undecided tisk tisk tisk Undecided

That's another reason why I like the Marlins so much. Not only that they are unbelievable players, but they have never had a curse in their entire history. Not only that, the Marlin (the famious fish) is a special symbol for Florida. The Marlin is a tough fish to catch. The Marlin is so famious that it appears on Ernest Hemingway's well-known book titled "The Old Man And The Sea". Very good book. In other words, it's almost impossible to catch a Marlin. Grin You be damn lucky (not destined) to catch one. Grin

Anyways.

LET'S GO MARLINS. LET'S GO (CLAP, CLAP)!!!!!

If memory serves, Babe Ruth wasn't sold to the Yankee's until after the 1919 season-when his rookie year was 1914.  Anyway, at the time he was better know for his skills as a pitcher than as a hitter.  (Yes, I have a sad and pathetic sports knowledge)-Anyway, the curse seems to have been true though since they haven't won the series since.

Personally, this was the reason that I wanted to see the Cubs and the Red Sox in the series.  Then, one of those 90 year championship drouts would have come to an end for sure.  Oh well, the Sox still have a chance.

Also, a little more trivia that I'll bet you guys didn't know.  It's well known that Babe Ruth was sold to the Yankee's just before the 1920 season and he became legendary not long thereafter.  But, did you guys know that he returned to Boston for his last season in the majors-he wanted to retire there.  He played for the Boston Braves during the 1935 season.

The only curse the Cubs have is Dusty Baker!!  Forget that fan!  It was all Dusty's wonderful managerial skills that is responsible.  As a HUGE Giants fan, I am affraid I have very little respect for Baker.  I see a huge similarity in what happened in this series and games 6 and 7 of last years world series...the constant in both situations being Dusty Baker and his poor decision making.

What the heck are you talking about?  Dusty took them to the NCLS in his first season as manager!  That's farther than the Cubs have been in decades!  Angry

If I heard the news correctly, I think Game 1 for the World Series will start here at the Pro Player Stadium (once known as Joe Roby Stadium) at Oct 18. I think that's Wednsday. I am not sure about the hour.

You people better start buying those tickets (if you're here in Miami and want to go) quick because those tickets will soon be sold out real quick. Goto www.ticketmaster.com for purchasing the tickets.

Here in Miami, if I am correct, the cost of the tickets for the top level of the stadium will be $20. The very bottom of the level would probably be around $140. There can only be a maximum of 6 tickets sold per family (I think). I can't remember the exact figures because they mentioned this on the news for the Pro Player Stadium. If you know the exact figures, please correct me.

You people can go ahead am make the line here in Miami. But if I were you, get something to keep you from getting bored because the lines here in Miami are Looooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggg!!!!!!!! Sad That's why we human beings have invented the internet. Grin

What team do you people prefer to see play against the Marlins? The New York Yankees or the Boston Red Sox? I say the Yankees.

True, but his biggest problem is his decision making when it comes to the bullpen.  He leaves guys in too long, or he brings the wrong guys in.  Look at the Marlins.  They went all out last night and secured the game by bringing in Josh Becket, their best starter.  No, Dusty would rather conserve his starters for the World Series, so instead sticks with his bullpen.  Dusty has a very hard time deviating from the whole, starter goes for 7 innings, bring in the reliever in the 7th and 8th, and then closer in the 9th.  In last years World Series, he took Ortiz out and went to his beat up bullpen.  With the lead he had he should have brought in Kirk Reuter or Jason Shmidt to secure that lead and there would have been no game 7 or a need for those guys to pitch.  Anyway, yes you have to give Dusty credit for what he has accomplished this year, but when it gets down to the REAL important games, he chokes.  He simply got out managed in this series just as he did in the World Series and even this years All-Star game.  He is a good manager when it comes to being a "players manager" but he has very poor tactics.  I'll list off the years he has failed either in the post season, or in the final must win games to get to the post season.  Hmm lets see, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002 and now 2003.

Yeah, that would be interesting.  I'm the opposite of Katahu, I've knew about the curse on the Red Sox, but I just heard about the Cubs curse today.  Something about a goat?

The Billy Goat Curse on the Chicago Cubs:

In 1945 (I think), a fan wanted to see the game at Wringley Field (in Chicago) along with his goat. Roll Eyes

However, the Cubs Manager wanted that goat to be taken out of the stadium because he said it stinks. The owner of the goat said that he paid for his ticket and wanted to see the game with his goat, but the manager refused to let him.

As a result, the owner of the goat said "From now and on, the Cubs will never see the World Series ever again."

Now, 48 years later (today), the Cubs STILL never managed to see the World Series since then. In fact, the curse was so serious that the goat owner took his promise all the way to his grave.

So, I guess that owner (I think his name is Billy. Maybe that's why they say Billy the Goat) is in heaven and he's still holding on to his promise. Grin

The moral of this story is:

Always give the customer his or her chance. Otherwise, you might get something bad in return. Grin

Bad News:

Tickets for the Pro Player Stadium have been sold 3 HOURS after the sale began. Sad

For every ticket that has been purchased through the counter, 550 tickets have already been sold out through the internet. In 3 hours, all tickets have been sold out.

This left over thousands of people (who were waiting in line) here in Miami to go home empty-handed. In fact, some of those people have been waiting in line since 10:00PM last night only to hear that the tickets have been sold out. I feel truely for those people. Sad

Those who have purchased the tickets already are now selling them over Ebay for as much as $2,499.00. And thats' only for a pair of tickets. Shocked Undecided Embarrassed Not only that. At the ticket master, the most expensive price is at $170.00 per ticket. The cheapest is at $60.00. The only problem, they're all sold out. Sad

I have a little side-note to this.  When the original goat died, Billy had the goat stuffed and he was a fixture in the original Billy Goat tavern at the corner of Ogden and Madison.  In the 50's, the place burned down and the goat went up in flames with it.  Since then, a brand new Billy Goat has gone up, and another stuffed goat has taken it's place.  There is also a Billy Goat on Clark, just south of Wrigley Field...
