I finally was able to create the overlay for an airport that already had AI. When I opened it it no longer had any of the AI. There is none on the overlay and none on the altered airport file. I tried to reinstall the original airport file, and still no AI shows up.

I know it is not the original file, since it works perfect in my friends computer.

Any ideas of how I hosed this up??  ???

Also- I thought maybe if I deleted the overlay it might work, but I do not know where it is saved to- it shows up in FS 2k2- but where are they stored?

You should always keep a copy in archives as this does happen
With having an overlay you are aware that the Airport Designation  eg  KLAX   becames 1LAX  or whatever designation you give
This has to be inserted into the  TTools Airport file and compiled
Then if you want aircraft to use that AFCAD airport you also have to change the designation (KLAX to1LAX) in TTools Flight Plans for that aicraft as well

yeah, but the problem I am having is that even with using the original flight plans, the original airport file and double checking the aircrafts match the ones in my aircraft folder- I am still not having the AI show up. It works just fine on my friends computer...so there is something wrong with my set up. I am not even trying to use the overlay right now.

Wish Bear,

After creating the overlay for KLAX, did you go into Traffic Tools and edit the Airports.cfg file to reflect the new facility and any changes you may have made to the existing facility?  This is required for your traffic editing program to recognize any additions or changes in airport facilities.

Subsequently, using your traffic editing program, you must edit the AI flight plans for the traffic you want to see in your overlay.  For example, all of your flight plans going to and from Los Angeles currently read "KLAX" in .txt format.  If you want a particular airline, such as United, to use the overlay, you need to edit the United flight plans by changing "KLAX" to the ICAO symbol you selected for the overlay.

Easy once you get the hang of it!

Good luck!! Smiley
