Well as some of you know, ken started a new job last week. He wanted me to fly out to his place in Canada and take a few shots of him at the controls in his new office. He is the Captain of this beautiful DeHavilland Dash 7 designed by Milton Shupe. He wanted me to emphasize that he hates driving "buses" but in this case it was paying the bills. "At least it is a prop plane" he said. His job is flying around off the waters of Vancouver Island ferrying biologists, cargo and passengers to different destinations. The day I shot these he seemed very happy with his new position. Sorry it took so long to get these to all of you, Ken and I spent a few days "off" while he showed me around his hometown! Sorry you missed out Cherokee,
You should have seen the fish Ken caught!  Wink

In this shot I was used a 300mm zoom lens to get as close as I could. I think you can see Ken in there!

...

The next shot is really nice. It is from the same vantage point but zoomed all the way out. It was hard to stay above him as the four huge props pulled the Dash skyward!

...

Here is one for Ken's wall. We were headed back as our day was ending. He had a plane full of goods and 12 passengers to bring in.

...

We were behind him when all of a sudden he decided to turn pretty quickly! "Just keeping you awake back there" he radioed to me. It was then I noticed the exhaust deposits on his wings! I responded back to him with a chuckle, "Wash that thing"!!

...

This shot was transmitted to me via Ken's cellular phone. I have already landed and am setting up the camera to catch him landing. He wanted us to see what his "office" looked like.

...

A beautiful landing as the snow is kicked up with a puff of smoke.  The sun is heading in and so are we. It is cold out here!

...

Hope you all liked spending the day with Ken at his new job and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did Ken!!!  Grin

As Ken describes it..."WORK....now that's a real four letter word!"  Wink

Thanks Peter. Yes it was worth the 14mb dial up down load wait!  Wink Very frame rate friendly and fun to fly. I like hearing all those props spinning! The sound package is great.
I hate to say "I know"..but I can't believe how "real" #3 looks. I surprised myself!!

Thanks again all!!!

If you guys can believe it, I have seen so many of those Dash 7s ......my high school was Downsview Secondary in North York...... the DeHavilland factory where the DHC-7 was made, almost backed onto the school property....
This plane is no stranger to my eyes........

Thanks for the thoughts Dave, and yes, Dean, there are pictures of the Shamu which I reeled in on 10 lb test !

.... nice pics, .... had a great flight in one of those, flew back from the Channel Islands sitting in the little dickie seat thats on the back of the cabin door, was up front cos I once did some work for the pilots dad! and had flown in his Dads 'home-build' Acroduster with him, previously, out of Bodmin Airfield where I had been working .... having a good old chat time flew by, and I even stopped up front for the landing .... wow! ...  steep decent into Plymouth! ... the girlfriend I had taken on holiday, was not to impressd with her 'solo flight' back in the cabin! ... never mind  Wink
