Howdy guys.
I need to connect my laptop to my new home computer, as it looks like its time to reinstall windows, but obviously that will mean loosing everything, some stuff is just to big for disk and i really cant afford to loose it. so how do i connect my laptop to my home computer? it says using a printer cable is possible through the LPT1 ports, but when i try that i get a computer not responding message, i also ave my cable used to connect my laptop to the broadband internet, would that be an option?
Thanks for any help guys,,
Craig

Hi Craig....
You have my deepest sympathy, mate.... Cry...!
I have a second hard drive which I can drag and drop files over.....
BUT...
A lot of the programs actually need to be re-installed again so that doesn't always help...
ALSO....
Make sure that you have ALL of your driver CD's for ALL of your hardware to hand... Wink...!

...the only other "easy" way to store files is with either a CD writer, or an external ZIP drive....
A serial connection between computers may be possible, but I'll leave that idea to someone else... Wink...!

Cheers mate....and good luck... 8)...!

P.S.  what's all this, with our Craig and super-dooper, hi-tec, lap-top "stuff"....?...LOL...LOL...LOL...!
P.P.S.  ..if this all goes pear-shaped, then we wont be seeing you for a while...?
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

LOL Cheers mate
and no, you cant get rid of me that easy Grin and as for high tech laptop dealy, well, problem is its so high tech, when one little thing goes wrong it all does, i cant use a cd rw drive as i have no USB ports(broken) but i cant return my computer to be fixed as i need it. no second hard drive and no old time ports which makes things difficult as things like my joysticks no longer work and i cant connect anything that doesnt use the parralel port:(
ah well, it does what it needs to, i will risk disks for the files i absolutly cant loose, and then the rest i will have to just wave bye bye to. or perhaps find some web hosting or something that takes larger files.
Cheers again Foz
