Could someone point me in the right direction?

I'm considering trying my hand at panel/gauge design.  (Why, I don't know...aircraft and scenery wasn't kind to me.)

What are the best newbie apps to use, where can I find them, and how much are they?  lol

Thanks!

Scott. Try CfgEdit from the Panel Design section. http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_panels1.htm

It was developed for FS2000/CFS but will work well with FS2002/2004. It's all I ever needed for my own panels in all the M$ sims. Once it's installed select the FS2000 option from "Options/FS Mode & Root Directory" & point the path to the root directory of whichever sim you're working with. The only drawback is that it can't cope with XML gauges which shouldn't be a problem. These can be added manually to Panel.cfg later if you wish. Its big brother FS Panel Studio is fully FS2002-compatible but it's payware. Check out the developer's site for more details.

The UI is user-friendly & should be self-explanatory. It's best if you have a basic knowledge of panels & Panel.cfg. I would recommend starting by modifying a default panel until you get the hang of it.

Just got into scenery design myself. I'm even building some bush scenery on a nice lake way up in Alaska Cheesy
