Hmm...this is a recent development.  Unfortunately, it's not so recent that I can remember the last action that I took prior to it occuring.

When I start F$2k2, it gets as far as the splash screen, and stops.  If I get to the task manager (via the three finger salute), it will say F$ is not responding.  But then if I close the task manager, it goes right to the main "create a flight" screen.

Any suggestions?  It's more of a nuisance than anything.

Sounds like your operating system is Win ME? Dump it! If your system can't handle XP then revert to Win 98 SE. Believe me, Win ME is (was) bad news all around.

Sometimes a re-install will not fix all problems.  Have you installed any updates for XP recently?  I did and it told me that my traffic Dll was a 3rd party program.  It did this after a re-install and i had to go back to an earlier thingy through system restore.

Good luck.

LOL, no I don't use ME.  (Bleck!)  I've got XP.  My system specs are somewhere on my signature or something.  lol (I don't remember where I put them, just that they're there.)

As for aircraft in the hangar, that's a good question, Mark.  A bunch.  A bunch more because the freakin' PAI planes that I love so much somehow ended up in my flyable selection.  (I don't remember them doing that last time, but whatever.)

And to Will..no, I haven't downloaded any XP updates, primarily because I've heard of some folks having their F$ affected because of the updates, so I stay away from them as long as possible.  haha  Bad, I know.

And I'm considering a reinstall, simply because it's been so long since I've done one, I've probably got all sorts of crap in there I don't need.  lol

First I've gotta make a CD of my downloads and repaints.  lol

Don't forget to back up your guages, effects and sound as well.  I forgot once, put the planes back in and 90% of the cockpits failed miserably to work. Undecided

I'm pretty sure a simple uninstall/install of FS2002 won't mess up your addons. This is only a problem with CFS2. AFAIK
This will restore all the default files which should fix this type of problem. You would simply have to reactivate any 3rd party scenery. Modified default files/textures would be a problem so take back-up copies first. I haven't tried this recently so it might be an idea to back everything up just in case I'm wrong. Roll Eyes

If you have enough free space on your HD, by far the easiest method is a duplicate install of FS2002. Simply rename the FS2002 root directory folder to any other name. Providing it's different this will hide it from the install program. Then insert CD-1 & install in the usual way. When this is complete you will have 2 separate versions of FS2002 which will run independently. Set up the new one & transfer your old files. You can safely delete the original afterwards if you wish.
