.... why can't I get this resoloution in fs9 when my mate can? .... my monitor is 17" .... system as below
 

AMD XP2000+ : Gigabyte GA-7VA 8xAGP : Asus 9600XT 128MB (Omega _2496c driver) : 512 MB RAM : 80 Gig Seagate 7200 : XP Pro

That's your monitor for you!

Your maximum display resoloution is determined by your monitor's own "bios" if you like.

You can over-ride it to make it higher, but your monitor will dies a horrible death in the process.

Are you by any chance using a TFT monitor? These have limited resoloutions unless you want to spend alot of money.

If you really, really want high res, try getting hold of a second hand monitor, and enquire about it's max display res. Even new ones, around 19" that can go up to 1600x1200 or so are not bank-breaking these days, but do you really need it?

.... mine is his old one, ... that will be the answer then .... it is old!  Cry ... (its only for nice pics and photo shop)
