well as of late i have been feeling some what, i dont know, empty would be the best way to describe it, like somethings missing but constantly nagging at me. it was then i realised it was a desire to return home, back to where i was born and raised for over half my life that place being middle wallop.
and well i was wondering where is everyone elses birth place and do you get that same feeling?

Grin  Craig  I moved form a very large city, into a small town, that was 20 yrs ago.  You would have to drag me back to the noise, dirt, and crime of a large city.  Sure there are things I miss, but all in all  Home is where the heart is and mine is alive and well in a small town.

LOL cool. it was the exact opposite for me.
all my life i have lived in small towns, middle wallop, moved to a small town in canada called medicine hat and then we also lived on a small island called portland, which is just off of weymouth,  then back to wallop, which is an army base in the middle of no where of countryside, then we got dragged to bristol, a large city, full of crime funny accents, and horrible weather.
i love living in small towns, like yourself if i leave i wont ever go back:)

I was born in Toronto, Canada.

Its odd being away from home but, hey you get a few new experiences. Like, Laundry. At the laundry mat, some nut decided to put the washer and dryers horizontally face you, making them all look alike. So, dont get them mixed, or you will be drying soiled clothes with detergent…LOL

So, why are you away from home?

Sometimes I get homesick for the little things, cider, baked beans, Cadburys Caramel. But you wouldn't get me to live in London again!!!

haha, funny thing is i have almost done that, well i sold off a washing machine as a tumble drier, they looked alike, and well they got a $200 washing machine for $100.
as for why i am here, bad luck, my dad got posted to northern ireland, my uncle died on boxing day, and we had had to move, since my mum wanted to be closer to her sister due to her husband death we chose here. then of course my aunt moves away a year later and we are stuck in a crud hole thats getting worse as the days go by

Grin  Craig  There is one other thing that a small town has that a large city does not, the small town airport.  Whether you love sim, or real flying, the small town airport is a gold mine of wisdom and knowledge.
Kind of like us. lol                                                       Fido

I live about 5 miles from where I was born and pretty much always have, however I would kill to get away from here. The only jobs to be had are in the sevice industry, so bassically the area is dead.

Hey Rifleman, how close is close.  If you fly out of KTQH using runway 35 you will need to raise your feet to avoid the small hill near end of the runway. I live in a two story house on that hill.  If I stand on my roof and raise my hands, I can get free plane rides, but the landings are a b----. lol

It is kind of bad luck when you have to follow your dad around, and my condolences to your uncle.

In this thread, you can see how close, close is.....we walk here on a regular basis.....there is a path around the entire airpark.....the runway is only 1800' long, just so you can imagine the scale of the place.....

Funny thing...My highly dysfunctional family bounced around back and forth between several states as I was growing up.  I don't think we were in any place for more than 2 years, except one.  We lived for I think four years in a little town called Knoxville in Iowa.  No matter where I have gone over the years, that little town has stuck with me as the place I most wanted to be.  We even went back there for vacation a couple years back and it was amazing how little had changed.  Some things, like a new high school and closing the city swimming pool, but the airport I worked at when I was 14 was the same, as was the downtown and all the places I remembered.  Our old house was there too.  It was awesome.  I think I'll always be drawn back to this place, and if not for family considerations, I'd be there now.  Smiley

Hello all... Grin...!
I was born in London, (England), but bombed out by the dreaded Hun in the second world war.... Shocked...!
Evacuated to Hereford, a small County Town, in 1939.
Saw for the first time cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, green fields, streams, trees, flowers, etc, etc.
No way would I ever want to live in a big city now, taken over by various criminals... Cry...!
I live a  mile or two from the town centre, in my own house with a big garden, in a small estate surrounded by fields... Grin...!
