I have just downloaded service pack 1 for XP and the fix 822603 that is supposed to gain you 10FPS in ACOF.  When I start FS2k2 I now get the following error message and kicked back to desktop.

...

I have extracted the Traffic.DLL from Disk 1 and replaced the old one and this still happens.  I think that I need to do a re-install.

Any help gratefully received.

I am not sure, but I get the same message with a dll called 'fssound.dll'.

You could click 'no',
BUT BETTER:

check in the FS2002.cfg (resp. 'fs9.cfg'), where you add the lines
[OLDMODULES]
traffic.dll=1

(I just put there:
[OLDMODULES]
fssound.dll=1)

Hope this helps!

The problem is (was) that it didn't matter which option i clicked, I still got kicked out.  The whole lot has gone now anyway. Sad  I will start again from scratch...

Thanks for the tip, if the reinstall doesn't fix things I'll try that.

Before I reinstalled fs2002 I think I'ld try a windows XP restore to a date before you installed the service pack .You can find restore in the accessories group under system tools. If you've never done a restore before it's no big deal.

Fair point but the service pack took the best part of an hour to download and install with a broadband connection.  FS2k2 takes 20 minutes.  Simple maths.

The problem still remains following a deletion and re-install.  Where do I go from here.

Try MIKEC's option. Saved me a couple of times. Doesn't the servicepack get stored somewhere on your HD (in a folder named windows downloads or somthing) The restore poit will not delete any files, just settings as far as I know
