Hello All,

I finally reached as far east of Canada as I basically can go. Now my adventure will head north along the Atlantic Ocean for a bit and then head in-land to Goose Bay, Labrador.

This leg is special for 2 reasons....the first one is that this will be the first time that I had to do my VFR approach in the dark (no ILS landing!)... Lips Sealed Grin

The second and more import reason why this leg is so special is that I used the second version of John "FSTIPSTER" Consterdine's Baron panel. I was going through my old downloads and I came accross the Alpha version of version 2 of the panel that he so masterfully designed. I remember that he was asking for Alpha testers for the new panel, and so of course, I volunteered to see what the next piece of art would look like.

Soon after that things got very hectic for me and I never got a chance to install it. Anyway, I did last night and tried it out. It is beautiful!

There was only a couple things wrong with it that I could find. One being a RPM gauge did not work and the fuel gauges did not move. I am not sure if he uploaded version 2 or not but its a beaut!

Destination for this leg...
...

Route Info...
...

Warming up the engines...
...

Here is a shot of the new panel. The changes were the ATC controls (top right), the new fuel gauges, and the gauge light test button (top left), new door and park buttons, and there was new panel lights (shown later)
...

Taxiing for takeoff...
...

Lift off...good climb...gears up...
...

Getting on course...Atlantic Ocean in the background...
...

Getting on course took me along the east coast for a bit...
...

Part way through the flight things got real cloudy...I started thinking to myself how I was going to land VFR, in the dark, with solid cloud cover... Embarrassed Lips Sealed...

Once I started going in-land, the clouds cleared (thank the lord!) and it started getting dark. Here is a shot of the panel with the lights on...
...

Getting darker...better hit the landing lights!
...

This was a pretty remote flight so there were no other AI traffic or towns to fly over, and when it got dark...it was DARK! But finally I spotted the runway and got her lined up..
...

Just above runway...
...

Just above the threshold...
...

I guess all my worrying about landing in the dark was uncalled for...this was one my better landings! No bouncying or anthing!  Grin Grin
...

Parked and secured...going to head over to that bar and have a drink in honor of John and this beauty panel...
...

Thanks for watching and comments/suggestions are welcome!

Dean, I am sure when those runway lights lit up, it was a happy sight!  Wink

You sure are covering alot of "airspace" in that Baron!
John "Tipster" would sure be proud!

Dean, just out of curiosity, what is your average air speed and flying time for each of your legs?

Dave

Average air speed is about 180-190 kts. I fly about 80% throttle...
And the flying time depends on the distance but I try to keep in about 2 hours...(except the London to St.johns  Wink )

All in all, the flying time is pretty close to what the screen shot of the Route info states...
