To fly or not to fly,....
that's a stupid question

Greetings all

I have been repainting with acceptable results for my VA.   I am now attempting to repaint the stock 737-400

The results were acceptable until I went to fly her.  I have the reg numbers on the vertical stabilizer, but the black MS700M is on the aft fuselage.  (the number is the same as my reg number after I edited the aircraft.cfg)

How does one find the spot to get this "tatoo" removed?

I just don't repaint the stock birds.  There's probably an easier way though.  lol

The "tatoo" you are talking about is a piece of the model, aka the *.mdl, and you can't edit that without first getting the files that it was created with.

SORRY! Smiley

Eh?

The default aircraft are a great place to start when you are learning to paint but we all quickly move on when we discover the constraints.

They are quick and easy to do but the main problem is that the default models use mirror images of one fuselage side for each side of the aircraft. So flags or any text or OK on one side but not the other - something which any painter worth their salt won't want to tolerate after a short while.

M$ get round this by having a 'special' method of applying registrations to models 'after' painting - ie when you select the aircraft to fly. It works rather badly but the good thing is you can just turn it off.

...

When you are selecting the model there is a box marked ATC Name and a Change button. The current ATC ident ie registration is shown in the box. Click on the Change button, delete the ATC ident in the next box and click on OK.

Voila - a plain fuselage.

But come on - if you're becoming a proficient painter move on to models that are worth spending time and effort on. The default ones just aren't IMHO.
