Hi Fella's,

ATC has cleared me for ILS Approach RWY 34L at YSSY.
At the OUTER Maker on final, lined up with the auto pilot to take me straight in.
TOWER clears me ILS Landing - Number 1 for landing.

Next thing, in the corner of my cockpit, an AI Boeing 737 creeps along side and crashes into me. (as if I was in his spot and he wanted it back!!!
)

BUGGER

A 1.2 hour flight wasted.

This flight was IFR and conducted OFFLINE.

Has this ever happened to you???

Not to me.  I've never really ever had to worry about AI traffic when flying the approches.

Not common, but that happens from time to time, at least for me. The AI aircrafts has a tendency of going either waaaay too fast or slow during finals...and mind you, they dont care about you or your plane  Grin

Yes, unfortunately, it -is- reasonably common! AI planes don't take into account your plane, oddly. I was on final at EGGP in a Cessna when I had a 737 murder me from behind (in aviation terms).

And there's no fix for it, either! It's just bad programming, perhaps.

Hi Simviation-

The same thing happened to me this afternoon on an approach to KBFI, Boeing Field, Seattle.  I had landing clearance in a Fokker 50 turboprop and was "No. 1 for landing".  Then the tower gave a Speedbird 777 landing clearance and was told he was "No. 2 for landing".

I thought of you right away, remembering this thread from yesterday.  Sure enough, Speedbird tore my head off when I was about a mile from the threshhold.  I was able to continue because I have Crash detection (whatever it's called) turned off.  The tower told me to go around, but I landed anyway.  During taxi they told me I didn't have permission to land.  I told them it was my sim and they wouldn't even have jobs if it wasn't for me.

In summary, turn off the crash detector so the AI errors won't get the best of you.

Cheers,
JerryH
