Does anyone know whether debris can hurt your aircraft?
This mainly applies to intercept missions when once you take out a bomber the wings fold back and threaten to crash into you and you have to swerve to avoid them.
Just wondering out of interest whether it will damage or destroy your aircraft if you crash into them.

I can tell you from experiance that trains will damage you if you hit them. I took my wingtip off when flying past the front of one of them. Tongue

I don´t think so.
you receive damage when you are too close to an explosion, that´s not to confuse with debris hits. Debris should even hit you when you are  behind a bomber while shooting at it,
but that just doesn´t happen.

My experience is that debris WILL damage your aircraft (sorry to disagree Mathias).  A couple of times I've shot down one of the B-25's and ended up suffering damage; I was far enough away from the actual explosion for that not to be a factor, so it must have been caused by hitting bits of plane!

I'm quite happy to be corrected, just relating my experiences.

Hmm, in one and a half years of flying CFS3, iclusive beta testing, I never saw debris hits.
The debris sprays around you but it doesn´t hit you.
I´m pretty shure it´s the explosion´s wave that got you. ???

Thanks guys for your opinions, I guess I'll just have to try and ram a broken off wing to be sure.

Not that it happened to me but I heard that hitting the ground in a nose down attitude and at full speed causes damage to the aircraft as well.

Weird...  Wink

There is nothing like a three plane formation flight early in the morning

Hmm, Must be a bug! I suffer (frequently) from the same problem....

Wonder if theres a patch?

learntofly.zip I suppose!

Back to the question, I'm 99% sure I've damaged my plane with debris before....

I'll try later and see....
