CPU Maxing Out!!! (Read 93 times)

First of All:
-Compaq 5330
-P4 1.7mhz
-512 Ram
-64 MB nvidia video card
-70% free resources of a 60 gig HD

FS 2002was the first thing I installed and it worked flawlessly for 18 months. Then it started slowing down. Initially, it would freeze for a split second...hardly enough to affect my flying. The Freezing gradually increased to where it is just about impossible to fly. Here's what I've tried so far:

- Uninstalled/reinstalled FS 2002
- upped my page file above 768 megs
- put all of the features on low/off
- virus/worm scanned with multiple programs
- Uninstalled/Reinstalled Windows XP
- Set the processor priority to the foreground program
- Ran a "Kill" program to close all programs (including hidden ones)
- Clean Boot

Monitoring the Task manager, the available RAM is remaining well above 380 mgs, but the processor use is showing 100%.

- Has my processor gone bad? (Noother programs are affected)
HELP ???

Are you sure theres no worm mate , really sounds like ya got one somewhere

is your Cpu maxing with other progys ?

and i have just checked my usage and my CPU is flat out with FS running but i dont get any freezing just the occasional droped connection when on line

Have you got on-board graphics that shares memmory with the mother board , maybe its not the CPU giving probs but your graphics chip loosing out to other progs needing memmory

i`m no expert here though , just a thought thats all

I think it's time to do a BIOS update. Go to Compaq's website and see if they have a BIOS update for your computer.

Go into your BIOS. Select 'Set to Optomized settings' and press whatever appropriate key there is to 'Save changes and exit'.

Make sure you use 44.03 or older Dets on your video card. Newer Dets == crap.

I've run 2002 on a Dell with a 1ghz processor and 256 megs of RAM. It never did this to me.
